Has anyone with a P00AF code actually fully resolved their issue?

I’m reading several posts on the P00AF code which I got twice when visiting out West on a recent trip not pulling anything, just roof top tent under 65 mph. Some folks say a new turbo is in order because of something with the actuator.

Since this code only pops in very specific circumstances, has anyone fully confirmed their issue as resolved? Since I live in Iowa, I know of no way to recreate the issue to confirm if I get it done. If the turbo has to be replaced and the cab removed, it will be a significant job as I have a lot of wiring and tubing running between frame and body for my overlanding setup.

Hence why I’m seeking a final consensus from those that have gone through this. Does it work and have you put the truck through it paces in the same scenarios after the turbo was replaced?

I also have an EOC stage 1 tune and EOC just says the turbo is fine, I’m just pushing the truck too hard. I understand the weaknesses of the Ecodiesel with heat, etc so I do my best to make sure the truck isn’t pulling hard and within nominal temps.

Watching... had this hit me 3 times on a trip CA to CO and back. Very predictable - steep grade with elevated outside temp, oil temp around 250+ but not in thermal derate territory.

If you're already tuned just have them disable the MIL flag. Actuator performance faults are strictly emission based and not necessary for vehicle operation (you'll know if you actually have turbo issues).

My truck threw that fault constantly over 7000ft for some reason, fault disabled for 30k now and turbo is still doing fine.

I have this same issue. first time at 72k I go in. They tell me it's the turbo I expected no problem as it says in the power train warranty turbo is covered. Then they tell me it's actually only covered in some secret 70k warranty. Tried to deal with jeep cares and Mopar and they basically just ignored me. So took the Jeep back from them. Didn't have an issue again for about 10k. Other day check engine light came on. Took it in again this time they say same thing but that the throttle body also needs to be replaced. Again dealer does not understand why the turbo is not covered. Told me some bullshit that jeep moved the turbo from the 100k to 70k at some point which seems illegal to me especially when I look up my warranty and it clearly says Turbo and all internal parts covered.

Either way not sure what I'm gonna do yet because don't wanna fork over 5k may just have my actual shop replace the throttle body and leave the turbo for a bit till I ditch the jeep.

The whole warranty situation has really turned me off from getting another jeep now though and I've had one the bast 15 years.

I’ve had this code pop twice now. Both times coming through the desert with cruise set to 65mph, ambient temps around 90°F. It seems to kick in with prolonged turbo spooling when my oil temp hits 240° (like a long, gradual climb). Both times I was substantially below payload and not towing. Both times it severely detuned the engine (no turbo spool audible) and triggered the “service electronic throttle control” and “service electronic stability control” messages. So far, turning the engine off, letting the systems power down (5-10 mins) and using a generic code reader to “erase” the code (note: erase always says failed on the reader, but the CEL and code indeed clears) has worked to restore normal operating conditions. I’ll let the dealership attempt to sort it out when I’m not 2200 miles from home. Has anybody else noted their oil (not coolant) temps when the code is triggered?

I’m in the same boat as you- been in a wrangler every day for the last ~20 years. Quality and reliability has consistently declined since the Daimler merger. I love the drivability of the JL/JT platform, but reliability is paramount. Stellantis wonders why their sales are plummeting? Time to go back to the basics of a dependable product and a quality relationship with the customer.
