Recently installed Alu-Cab ModCAP tent. First test run up the Dalton Highway to Prudhoe bay.

Minimal build out so far (Second battery, single solar panel, awning). No mods to suspension.

4 nights with no issues, love it so far.

That's a hell of a test run! Amazing drive though, I did it in 2016.

I am spending the summer in the Denali area as a photography guide. I've been up the Dalton a few times over the years. It is a great way to test out the rig....mud, rain, cold, rough roads.... Looking forward to making the interior space more livable now....

So I just ordered one of the new Starlink Minis. Because I camp a lot in the woods, not sure if I will be hard mounting it, but curious if anyone has yet - Starlink Mini to the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper.

I've had one for a few weeks now. At this point I'm not permanently mounting it to the camper. I'm using a tripod adapter that works with the included pole mount, then a couple RAM ball mounts and a short arm to attach it to either the camper cross bars, my JT's roof rack, or a tripod if I'm parked in the trees and need to get it out in the open. I'm using a 12-36V boost converter to get the voltage up high enough to not be impacted by voltage drop on the mini's approx 50' power cord. I'll likely be upgrading to the optional 100' cord soon. A lot of mini users are trying to make do with 12V or USB-C but it really limits the length of power cord and if not done right, causes annoying dish reboots. I'd suggest the boost converter since it is the closest thing to the AC adatpter's output voltage of 30V (the mini can handle up to 48V). I'm just finishing up a pass thru for the starlink power (as well as an Anderson Powerpole) and can offer some photos soon.

Awesome, thanks for the detailed reply. I just ordered the tripod adapter, that would be very useful especially since I am a pro photographer and have a few tripods lying around. Would make a lot fo sense to get it off the ground when its wet or snow's on the ground. Plus being able to use a Ram mount to clamp it to various parts of the rack or camper would be beneficial.

When you finish up the wiring and are happy with it, please post photos. Thanks!

QQ: I’m rewiring my ACCC and had to dig around in the electrical harness coming down from the back left upper corner. Seven wires, brown / pink / orange / purple / green-yellow all labeled, properly hooked up and working. But up high in the loom were two short wires, blue and black, no label, not properly terminated with insulated ends - just bare copper at the open end.

I wrote to Alu-Cab and got the reply ”The blue and black leads are not utilized in the Canopy Camper wiring harness.” OK, fine - I can just cap them properly and never think about it again.

But anyone have any idea what these are meant to be used for?

Thanks, copying that down for my records too. Maybe there’s a common harness with the Alu-Cabin or Khaya? Do those come with some electrical feature that we don’t have?

I think they are just pre-run wires for the end user to use if they want to wire in extra accessories.
