Trying to get opinions on auxiliary switches. My Gladiator Rubicon has factory lockers, but no auxiliary switches. I'm comparing Z Automotive vs Lasfit. I like the idea of Lasfit not going thru ECM, but read a thread that you cannot program using vehicle on vs off. I like Z Automotive options of momentary or latching thru Uconnect. I am a first time Jeep owner and would like to here opinions from experienced Jeep owners.

I have both the factory switches in our Gladiator and lasfit in our Wrangler. The factory ones are more versatile with the programming but lasfit are of good quality and are very easy install. They do what they need to do and look factory. I like them and have no regrets .If I remember right they are much cheaper than z automotive.

Anything electronic going on my jeep means I buy multiple options, disassemble them and choose based on what I find, because thats my career and passion. That being said the sPod is what I went with. I believe they have multiple options and price points but they are all built and work the same.

I ordered the jeep with aux switches and if I only want 4 with only two being higher amperage, that would be my next choice. I use that bank for an air compressor

My Rubicon did not come with the factory aux switches and I wanted to keep the OEM look and feel so I bought the OEM switches and installed them myself. I realize it’s limited to 4 switches but currently I’m only using one switch for my winch and can always add more with the aftermarket solutions if I fill up these 4 and need more later. The install was pretty straightforward but still took about 4-5 hours or so.

Another vote for the factory switches. Quality is good, function is good. They’re sized such that 4 will really do quite a bit. I’m currently using 2 out of the four.

Don’t have any experience with the aftermarket ones.

Did the factory switches come with the bank and harness?

Yes the kit comes with the bank and harness plus instructions. The only difference between this harness and the one installed at the factory is that the harness in this kit does NOT include the two extra wires outside the switch connections that allow for a constant on or ignition connection as well. At least my harness did not come with those (bought June 2023) and I believe I read a different thread that also confirms this to be the case but can’t find it right now.

As for the install, the two biggest challenges for me were taking my time to get through the firewall grommet and then depinning the wires from the factory connector that needed to be reconfigured. DO NOT JUST PULL! To depin I had to use a micro screw driver so it would release from the plastic connector and they came right out. The YouTube video I watched for guidance didn’t clarify this and I’m glad I sought other guidance that told me not to just pull with all my might.

If it’s me, I’d get aux switches, and the 4 button vosswitch that goes on the grab handle. I like the aux switches for programming ignition, latching vs momentary, remember last, etc. I like the voswitch for total control whenever I want.

VoSwitch! I am running the 6 pack where the factory 4 would be, wirEd hot. And the 4 pack in the drivers grab handle wired to ignition hot. They are engineered very well for under hood placement, ease of install, simple run of the control wire between the cab and engine compartment. Very reasonable when it comes to pricing.

The only problem with the factory switches after the fact is that if you're going through all that effort to run the wiring, you might as well get more switches with another brand at the same price.

edit: the install also requires screwing with the factory connector with like 40 pins in it so if you aren't comfortable de-pinning connector (A Molex MX150 tool works or a blunted needle) then I'd pass.

That they are. Such a good product.
