Hi all,
I have a Black Horse Atlas already installed for a while. Love it. It is mounted on the OEM trail rails. Now, I'm looking for a tri-fold hardcover to go with this rollbar. I think because of the rollbar's configuration (the C channels sitting on top of the bed top side rails), my options for a hardcover that works 100% (or close to) will be limited.

I've heard the DiamondBack may work and so may other similar models. Covers that sit flush with the bed rails likely won't work. Black Horse also told me that they now sell a hard tri-fold that will also work but I'm not totally convinced.

I'm having trouble finding information on the Internet as well as instructional videos that can show me what my options are and how everything will work together. I do understand that I'll have to give up at least one of the tri-fold panel when all things are set and done.

Can anyone help? Has anyone done something for a similar setup? Any reviews and other ideas and tips are also appreciated. I'd like to be able to narrow down a couple of buying options. I hate to have to find out things don't work after the order is placed.

TIA

I would have to imagine anything similar in size / thickness to a soft tri-fold will work. I have the blackhorse original light bar and a rugged ridge tri-fold soft cover that works just fine. If I were to do it again, I'd go with a roll up cover. The tri-fold is nice, but the 2nd fold you have to tie up to the light bar because the light bar base interferes with the cover.

Black Horse states that the ATLAS is compatible with any tonneau cover. However, like you mentioned, a cover that allows for full bed access may still be impeded by that top rack on the roll bar, and the C-channels you mentioned would keep that first panel in place as well. They feature a DiamondBack Cover with the ATLAS, so it's a safe bet that they work together.

I can only fold 2 sections up on my tri fold cover and that's with the Black Horse classic roll bar. I then have to use the straps to tie it to the light bar.

Thanks!

If this is how it is with the Diamondback (HD or SE), I can work with that -- especially the sections on the dual folds on that model can be easily removed (per what I've seen anyway).

If the rear section on their new tri-fold Switchback can be just as easily removed, I can work with that as well. I just lose more bed space with more height.

Now, I'm more concerned about how the front section (on any of their models) are clamped down to the bed rails.

My bed cover (which I have to think is like most of the others) clamps down on the front of bed at each corner. You may have to put a "L" bracket between the bed and cab depending if you have the weld nut or not. Mines a 21 (built in Aug or Sept of 2020) and I had to get the brackets from Xtang (my Rugged Ridge didn't come with them). Xtang is the parent company who makes Rugged Ridge's tonneau covers.

I will say It wasn't fun trying to lay in the bed with the LIght bar installed and having another person try to hold the L brackets in place. while I tried to thread the bolts in.

Hope this helps
Todd
