My STT Pros are getting down there.
Discount Tire no longer carries them but other vendors do.
I've done business with Discount/America's Tire for over 10 years so may consider another brand to stay with them or go to American Tire Depot for the STTs.

Recommendations for best tire wear.
1) STT Pros
2) MT Baja Boss
3) Toyo Open Country MT
4) Nitto TG MT
5) GY Wrangler MTR

Thanks!

Can you still get MTRs? I thought those were done.
Think you're right. Not sure why Discount lists them as "discontinued". Why not just not show them.

Out of that list I would say Baja Boss MT. My buddy has 40’s and loves them. I would also look at MTZ.
I would NOT recommend Trail Grapplers since mine got so chunked I returned them.

Any input on the MT baja boss MT on highway for long trips? I still want a MT but acknowledge I use my JT for long highway trips too, hence the MTZ seemed the best compromise.

FWIW I have Baja Boss ATs on our JT and our Grenadier. I also had a set previously on a Tundra. Before that I had the predecessor the Baja ATZ.

Ive ran a bunch of other tires over the years, Nittos, Toyos, BFGs, Coopers, Falkens. Right now I havent found anything I like more than the Mickey Thompsons. The Baja ATs were on almost half of the trucks at the PNW Expo when we went as well. Really, really great tire in all conditions, rides well, makes very little noise even after 30k. Only downside I have noticed is that theyre not light. Theyre on par with most other tires though, so not super heavy like Toyos can be, but if they were lighter while maintaining all their current benefits they'd be perfect.

I’ve been able to have @Discount Tire order obscure brands they otherwise wouldn’t carry before. You can ask.

Otherwise, I hear good things about Mickey’s and the new Falken AT’s.

Me too...I'm mostly hwy but don't mind the capability of an MT and the overall look over the road noise.

I would've gone with MT Baja Boss AT but they werent offering it in a 38. I ended up going with the Falken Wildpeak RT/01 38x13.5. Its a hybrid and I've been really happy with it. It's slightly louder than an AT on the highway but not MT loud. I've been impressed with it aired down too. For reference I've taken this tire from MN to UT, CO, and SD (for wheeling trips) and back towing a small teardrop. I've wheel some pretty aggressive trails with and the tires have held up great.

In the same boat, looks like DT is reducing their inventory choices. First it was 40’s and now several 37’s are discontinued.

I have the same AEV Borahs. Did you regear with the 38s?

Yes, i went with 5.38s. I think 5.13s would work well too but since I tow a trailer through mountains on most of my trips I went a bit more aggressive. I wouldn't go any less gear than 5.13s though.

Love my Recon Grappler 37x11.5x17" Nice traction off-road and quite on road. About 70.6lbs a tire.
