Saw an odd bird in the wild today. It’s either a sport S or overland, but it has red tow hooks on the front(actual hooks, not covers), a single red on the rear, plastic rear bumper, 285s, and rubicon hood stickers (on a non-rubicon hood).

So, did someone get duped or did someone go through a lot of effort to make their non-rubicon look the part?
After a crash that damaged the front plastic bumper on my Max Tow, I used insurance to install a Mopar Rubicon metal bumper to prepare for a winch. At the time, I didn't know about the Freedom bumper with black tow hooks. Come to find out, the bumper that is now installed is for a Wrangler. So, what's different? The fog lights.

Just reminds me of all the base model muscle cars that folks would throw SS/GT/Z28 badges on. Didn’t think I’d see that on a gladiator of all things 🤣
The VIN, door stickers, and insurance would reveal the actual trim package. People "spec up" lower trims all the time (the hood decal is a bit much). Even if the owner was duped in the sale, as soon as they get their insurance it would come up with the correct trim.

 ...... I'd go in the opposite direction.

Take off all the Rubicon stickers off and make it look like a plain Jane. Sleeper....

A friend of ours from our younger years.....
He'd take these random tiny compact cars and slap V6's and soup them up. He'd take them to Auto cross events and literally SPANK everyone in the competition. He did that to several cars over the years.

I guess whatever makes you feel special. My daughter bought her first new vehicle, 2016 Jeep Renegade. It was the bottom of the barrel as far as packages. She asked me to buy latitude wheels and tires. She really hated the steel wheels. Then it was the latitude optional black hood decal and a roof rack. It looked sharp! But under that hood was the 1.4l Fiat engine. She was happy!

Like was said before, some people want the appearance that they have spent some money. I'm sure their girl friends won't be looking at the undercarriage.

You gotta make it YOURS.... I hate having a vehicle that gets lost in the sea of other vehicles.
I love making it 'different' but not cheesy......

I mean...around here, there's 2 billion WHITE SUV's everywhere. BORING!!!! 🤣

Removing labels would be cool but the hood and fenders give way the actual trim

What if it was in an accident and the owner opted for the regular hood either because they don’t like the vents, cost or availability.

If I was betting serious money, that would not be my first guess. More tells in the picture point to a Sport derivative than anything else.

I work for no man.
I can't believe someone is concerned enough about what color another Jeep owner paints their tow hooks. You can paint them Piss Purple if that's what you like as far as I'm concerned. I didn't like the silver trim around the original equipment fog lights on the plastic bumper (the same as a Rubicon plastic bumper) because I have a blacked-out grill too, so I painted mine flat black to match. I thought one of the attractions for Jeep owners was to "Make it your own!"

While having a neat-o hood or a sticker that says "RUBICON" is cool and all ... I went in a completely different direction.
