I would be interested to learn more about how you came to that conclusion.
They aren't mutually exclusive. You can have selec trac AND a limited Slip Diff AND Brake lock is standard on all of them if I am not mistaken. ? For a month now we have had snow on our roads back roads in particular. It is worth its weight in gold imho.

I got mine at a dealership and one of the reasons was that dealership had ordered selec trac on a 2023 Freedom Edition and his prices were 30% off MSRP in Dec 2023. Being a NW dealer, he said he ordered them AND LSD at least on everything he could. He was the only one like that I was aware of as most don't seem to even understand the distinctions. It was 695 as an option. He said he didn't order ANY of the bluetooth speakers at 595.

That's really just based on the more informed opinions of experience expert level Jeep owners like Jason Stamka; and I may have overstated his opinion. I think he was moreso suggesting SelecTrac isn't a game changing "must have" have if you have BLD.

Personally, it seems to me that every Jeep ought to come standard with SelecTrac as I don't see how it can hurt anything.

One of my planned future upgrades is installing front and rear TrueTrac differentials; my Jeep's a daily driver and I only do very light off-roading; I think the diffs, in combination with BLD and a good set of A/T tires, would be more than enough for that use case.

I question if they're really "experienced expert jeep owners" if they are saying that. That's literally saying that you don't need 4wd much because you have traction control (which is all BLD actually is). Maybe they're saying that you don't need an LSD as much because of bld, but that would still be not true as bld is not instant and only helps after you've slipped quite a bit vs an LSD that locks up near instantly.

Depends upon where you live as to whether it is game changing. I did see that video. If you live in Montana or other similar locales, it is a game changer. I've driven them all starting with a base "regular" four wheel drive 2013 Ram 1500 Hemi quad cab and NO limited slip. This is roughly what MOST Wranglers and Gladiators are sold with. It's great except for constantly having to shift in and out of four wheel drive due to ever changing mile by mile road conditions from about November to April.

I've then had a 2015 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman Hemi with limited slip which made a big difference but you were still having to shift in and out of four wheel drive a lot. Then a 21 1500 Hemi with the "AUTO" four wheel drive and you didn't have to do a thing but drive. I also had a Renegade with auto 4WD that only confirmed my realizations.

That experience made Auto a requirement for my Gladiator... So, Frankly, you live in a state that hardly ever sees snow, you do NOT need selec trac (Auto 4WD). I'd sure get LSD though. And anyone that has never had it doesn't even realize what they don't have... Once you have it up here, you don't want to go back.

AND, I think that is why my local dealer sold more Renegades than any other dealer in the US. It's standard in that tranny package. He took truckloads of Renegades from else where where they couldn't get rid of them and sold em in weeks there in the first six months of 24 as they sold them out. 4WD auto comes with it as part of the package... He said not much margin on them, but lots of cash flow to pay the bills when things were bad...
