Been there with my Honda RC 51 from 2003 to 2007. The VFR from 2009 to 2013. Nismo from 2015 to 2020. Almost ended up on the Tree of Shame with the RC 51. Lost the front tire, but managed to save it. Went back to the cabin to pull my underwear out from my asshole.
I've had some close calls, mostly from Hardley-Ableson riders. The black lines, over the double yellow, across the white, and down the side of the gorge tell a tale. "You know that has a front brake too?"

Yeah......the idiots forget that HD's only can lean so far over before scraping, and lifting the rear tire. I hated the 2 HD's that I had for that reason.

The one that sticks with me is the guy on the Triumph 2300 (I think?) So focused on the cameramen in the corners, focused on them, not the road. High sided the bike, lifting the back wheel off the road, slammed into a red Corvette going the other direction, causing the 'Vette to go over the edge.

The whole picture sequence is why you have to watch more than the road.

Is the battery an AGM battery? Mine came on and the dealership replaced the aux battery and the main battery but they put a standard lead acid battery in and I took it out and put an AGM battery in and the light went away immediately

Dang ................... All back together, new hood switches, batteries charged up.

Avenger light still on.

Does it take some time to reset?

Don,
Check the connectors for the switches, make sure there is no corrosion on the wire ends.

Usually when a hood switch causes the problem the switch that involves ESS is hanging up and not engaging properly.

When you cycle through the dash display to the ESS page, does it give only a "Not Ready" message or does it give a message with some sort of explanation?

Have you tried checking for codes to help troubleshoot the ESS issue?

No codes, via my code reader, or my local mechanic.

I get the "Service ESS System" pop up.

ESS page?

You need to check your fuse array at this point. Get a vom and check n1 n2 n3 and N7. I would start there before anything else is replaced.
