My 7 month old Gladiator was found mostly dead in my driveway yesterday. Called Jeep and they were prompt about sending a tow truck to haul her back to the dealer.
I was expecting the aux battery might be the issue but the dealer has just informed me that the RHF Hub the culprit.
Well the problem was quickly diagnosed but the kicker is that it's a 4-6 week backlog on the part until it's in stock .
They are furnishing a new Ram 1500 as a replacement until my Jeep is fixed.

As a engineer in school I was taught generally less systems - more reliable. Independent systems - easier to troubleshoot. Am I the only one that wishes for a stupid simple truck again.

6 weeks for a part for a established model truck is a joke. My 53/5 I could fix with a rock. My 83/5 a rock and screwdriver. My TJ a rock, toolset and ODP reader. The supposed simple Gladiator Sport I now have, even some of the dealers don't have the tools to fully service

Oh well off the soap box.

If it's the hub/bearing, they just don't want to buy it from another dealer. They are available out there.

If it's any of the speed sensor/wiring, that stuff has been on back order almost from the word go.

The rf hub is for the security system. The thing that reads the rf chips in the keys and controls the remote start system, door locks etc..
Even though I have a S model with only push button start and non of that other crap lm still dnf.

I hear ya. So we have a KIN module, security key fob, RFH, multiple antennas, BCM, PCM, and both discrete and CAN bus connections all working together just so we can push a button to start our Jeep instead of having to use something so archaic as a keyed ignition switch. Overly complex systems for no true benefit really are the bane of modern vehicles IMO. Throw in a healthy dose of just in time supply concept, and we have the perfect setup for an ever increasing chance your vehicle will turn into a massive paper weight for extended periods of time until (or if) it can be repaired.

Probably need to check and make sure the back window is not leaking water on the inside. The RFH is located on the back inside cabin wall below the window just left of center towards the drivers side. That has taken out a few RFH in the past.

I looked when I went to the dealership and I couldn't see any signs of water leaking around where the module was located.
It struck me that that location on the back of the body tub on a convertible with no weather protection was a pretty stupid choice.

nailed it. there are other such examples like this on our Jeeps, aux battery, rear locker. Most of them have workarounds for people that offroad, wish this one did - I'd carry a bypass in my recovery box.

Someone will get tired of the newer electrical system and spend the money to convert it back to the basics. A motor and tranny swap would be in order, and manual gauges. That way when you have a problem you’re not completely dead in the water. Good example, the electrical system from a TJ, or an older LS would be heads and shoulders easier to work on and diagnose. 🤔

No way I want to go backwards with the transmission. These are so much better in every way.

That is "Pie In The Sky" dreaming.

Agreed that the transmission is good. I imagine someone can figure out how to still use the TCM without all of the other electrical items connected, or deleted from the system. Like when tuners delete a diesel. That was more along the lines of what I meant.
