I love the idea, but per the video, they need custom axle shafts. I’d rather a hub that works with the normal length shaft, so people can use any front shaft they want.

I like the idea, but I already have the FAD.

I know the question of locking hubs has come up before so I thought I'd post.
Guess others beat me to it.

I need a front axle housing that would use all my Diesel Rubicon goodies with no FAD housing and locking hubs. I'm not married to my current wheels, I'd change to a 5x5.5 bolt pattern for some good old Warn hubs.

I'm lazy. Heck I'd be fine if the shifter that is akin to dragging a shovel through a bucket of limestone was replaced with a switch šŸ˜‚

Now locking hubs on a '77 K10?

I'm all about it.

Warn has hubs for 5 x 5.5? But I love my wheels.

Nostalgic though. I’d like it on a non daily driver. I had them on my cj7.

5x5.5 is the bolt pattern for the CJs, as well as the older F150 and Broncos. So ya, Warn has hubs for them.

I don't really love my wheels. Different bolt pattern would finally give me the push to get new wheels.

For a trail rig…… absolutely!! Not for a daily driver.

Had Warn locking hubs on the YJ (Grand Waggy Dana 44ā€˜s - no FAD).

Awe, they’re so cute. Do they use these exact ones on a Mohindra? ;-)

all jokes aside, I might be interested if it would work with chromoly rcvs, but at that point it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I pulled these from my C5. They are going on my Mahindra Roxor. Not really needed on the Roxor since it mostly hangs out on dirt and gravel.

I had them on my '61 GMC Carryall- loved them.
Installed after market hub locks on my '49 Dodge PW-wonderful. Reduced the fuel use and ended the wear on a mass of rotating front end parts.
Miss them my '90 dakota Sport, '01 Tahoe, and '94 Suburban. I would love to reduce the wear on all those moving parts on vehicles I really want to keep going.
When it is really cold those stupid heating units on the axles that engage the front end of the GM trucks tend to be slow or just fail.
For me locking hubs make a lot of sense. I like to know that I locked it not wonder if the truck did.

Manual hubs are a great feature, no doubt. But the legacy type found on CJs, classic Broncos and a zillion pickups require a lot of conversion and a a lot of money. I’m not aware of anything offered that would work on JL/JT other than what this guy is selling.

Being a ā€œJK Pioneerā€ when I lifted my then new ā€œ09 JKUR we couldn’t get the front driveline vibrations tamed adequately when I went to 4ā€ springs. In that era the transfer cases were grenading from front driveline vibrations, so something had to be done. I opted for the Spyntec manual hub conversion, which vibration-wise was of course a 100% fix. That’s the good news. The bad news was cost. They require new 5x5.5ā€ bolt pattern wheels, new rear axle shafts (should replace them anyway), new front axle shafts and a downgrade to 297x (D30) front I-joints.

More good news, on highway you notice significant change in driving dynamics without all that stuff spinning up there (no FAD on a JK). On trail it’s business as usual. I beefed up the supplied Warn hubs with RCV 911 slugs, so the usual weak spot on those is gone. When I swapped out the front shafts I got forged units and installed CTM u-joints in place of the 297x’s. No issues whatsoever.

15 years, 90k miles and a lot of trails later they’re doing fine. But they require regular maintenance , replacement parts are expensive and frankly they’re just not worth the hassle. The setup this guy is selling for the JL/JT is far simpler and time will tell just how much interest they generate. Guy sounds like a nut, but…

Had them "freeze up" where I could not kick them before. With a FAD there's not much moving at all. Only with no fad does everything spin. Wear is minimal as AMC produced thousands of vehicles with no FAD and I've seen them with over 200,000 miles and still fine
For a heavy or full size truck, they make sense.
