Spit the lure out Bill, it is an extremely well written troll post.
Not that well written - too many holes. I laughed as I read it - too easy to pick apart.
Looked worse than most AI things out there.

Stop, you are going to scare the small children around here.
Not if they actually read it - or tried to make sense of it.
At least come up with something believable.

Troll posts are not written for critical thinkers taking things on face value. It is well written for a troll post because it hits on the unfounded biases and conspiratorial preconceived beliefs held by many.

Has anyone seen real data? Definitely more than zero. I thought I was clear getting up to 100k. Not so much.

Its satirical and intended entirely as jest or a joke.. for those that could pick up the undertone, but man, tough crowd.

Perhaps they missed the "Happy Friday"

Anyone who can write like that, such logic and reason - yeah, you're hired.
I am one in the same.

At least use as the source everyone's favorite YouTuber with "inside connections" and gee, the video disappeared two hours later. Then most Jeep people would believe it - it came from a "reliable source"!

Wait!

What percentage of Gladiators
have camshaft failures?

I thought it was pervasive
and inevitable.
It is! Just ask the internet wisdom.
(I guess I just defy the odds)

Update:

1. Cam kit came unexpectedly early, like 4 weeks early. We were on a short vacation when it arrived.
2. I found during later research that the cam phaser & timing chain tool kits are almost worthless because they're for VVT instead of VVL engines, so I had to order the $110 tensioner tool. The phaser blocks "work" - I just trimmed the upper and lower edges so it fits the radius better.
3. I thought about documenting the process for future reference. But I'd rather have unqualified success than documented failure. :D Plus I don't want the Internet to see my dirty JT.

Quick background: Last summer in the deserts of Arizona and California I picked up a miss. Thought it was bad gas. In testing it around, anything over 5k RPM would trigger a misfire in Cyl 1.

I parked it until I could deal with it. Over the past year it's been driven sparingly. About 2800 miles since last July.

Here's what everyone wants to see (but you don't get to because iPhone focus is lame!):

So yeah. I didn't push through and try and get it all done in a day. Afraid I'd miss a step, get impatient and break stuff, or just go a little too far.

Working outside in hot weather wasn't fun either, and when the wind picked up it was no bueno. So some days I'd get 5 mins of work in.

Last night I made good progress and made a run to Home Depot to pick up the 36mm socket, a 1/4" torque wrench, and set of Torx sockets. Wrapped up about 9pm with the valve cover on.

In the morning I ran to the store and picked up coolant.

Started putting the brackets, sensors, wiring in. I forgot to get anti-seize for the plugs.

Off to the store again.

Picked up a small jar.

Finally able to knock it out, accompanied by my new playlist of pop/rock songs from 1980-1984. Things were cruising.

Changed the oil. Added coolant. Double checked the engine bay for any loose tools, forgotten rags, etc.

Hopped in the drivers seat. Slightly on the apprehensive side.

This was not me:

Pressed the ignition button.

And it's oddly, yet beautifully quiet.

I slowly revv'd around 1500-2000 rpm it to cycle the oil and coolant. No new noise. No catastrophic seizing of the engine. No rough idle or popping or anything.

I'll run a couple more cycles to get the coolant cycled. I had to fill it twice so far and topped it off before I came inside for a bit.

Then I'll change the oil again.

So here's the engine all buttoned up:

Remember, I went to go get anti-seize.

The tech doc I have says "requires new xxxxx" due to differences in phasers
But you figured it out! Bravo.

And if you ever need it hopes it works for you. I always love how they will try and deny everything over something stupid like records or what not.
I just found that taking that 3500.00 and saving it back does more for me then they ever will . Just my Humble opinion.
