Towing capacity guesstimator after lift and 37" tires?

Sorry if this info is findable via search but I had no luck there...

2021 3.6L gas, automatic, stock it had max tow option and 7,650 lbs towing capacity. But now it has 4.88 gears, 3.5" Metalcloak Gamechanger lift and 37" tires.

I know my towing capacity decreased but is there an estimator to know what I can tow now?

Edit: I should have mentioned this will be about 650 mile trip.

It will now tow slightly less than what you started with your right but I always recommend staying 1000 under the factory rating even when it was stock. So when you do figure it out stay under a 1000.

Well, the car and U-Haul auto transport trailer weigh 6,200 lbs. So, based on your 1000 lb margin I don't think I'll try it. I should have mentioned this will be about 650 mile trip.

Those U-Haul car trailers are made out of neutron stars, they are heavy as hell, plus the car, ya they are a load.

Payload is the real issue. In TX flat I probably would if no other options and I was in my numbers. Just go slower than you normally would.

Honestly? I’m not saying the Gladdy can’t do it….. but if you want a safer and more comfortable ride/experience, I’d rent a fullsize truck.

Yeah, I think it’s too risky on the transmission.

Hopefully I won’t even need to do this. The whole reason is the stupid Hyundai dealer in Denver may not get my daughter’s transmission replaced in time for her to drive back to OKC. Finders crossed.

800lb tongue weight is more than a Glafiator is rated for. I wouldn't do it, but if you decide to, stay off the interstate so you can keep your speed down.

Hmm. Probably good advice. But I thought tongue weight just counts against your payload? Is there a specific rating for tongue weight?

I would like to know what it would take to break one.

Unless you’re still running too high a final gear ratio, then is mostly the added weight that hurts, now I suggest you drive on a scale, keeping in mind the stock CGVWR, that’s trailer, truck, all passengers and gear as you will cover the entire trip is legally set at the factory at 12,500 max. So see how close you are with everything hooked up and ready to go including a good torsion bar weight distribution hitch with friction resistance sway control, that’s trailer itself is at least 100-120 lbs. Then see how it handles and weighs. If anywhere close to 11,500 lbs or over? Be very very careful and stay at or under the speed limits. If over 12,000 lbs see if you can lose some like empty water tanks and no water till on site, you can always lose one of two propane tanks and drain water heater being sure it’s shut down. Recommended tongue weight is 10% of your tow capacity. Issue with exceeding ir being rear end squat, reduced steering, the trailer will want to push you around, reduced braking capacity, etc. Which by the way, since you are running larger and heavier tires you have already reduced your braking capacity.

But if I do will go with car dolly to reduce tongue weight and overall weight.

by all means, follow it to the book with a safety margin. I on the other hand have had no issue towing my 4800lb NOBO camper with 37s or My buddies 6800lb GX on a Uhaul car hauler. Its definitely not fast but i would tow anything over 2500lbs past 60 mph in a midsize pickup anyway.
