6 Months In… Getting some poor “support”

What is it with Florida dealerships and their little games? See it more often than not when compared to other areas of the country with maybe California a close second.

Exactly. It appears to be ALL SALES and then the wheels fall off. I’m not trying to be dramatic, I am seriously considering another vehicle. I’m just not going to put up with the BS. I’ve read this forum frontwards and backwards and the consensus is nobody knows truly why a percentage of 3.6 grenade the top end, and if Jeep does it’s too expensive to fix and a substitute engine going forward is the solution.
I’ve found a Jeep specialist at a private shop in town. I also got another dealership to commit to one lifetime powertrain warranty repair to “see how it goes”. That’s about all I can do short of selling it.
Lexus is a heavy contender. GX…

Toyotas have some issues as well. Some newer toyotas are now using 0w16 or 0w8 oil if you are not aware. It has been talked about before that the thinner oils do there job and cool better. Maybe the lighter oil isn't working to well with the turbos. You are going to have issues with any manufacturer. You were just fortunate enough to be in that 1% group with Jeep. I actually don't know if it's 1% or not, just that it's a low number.

I hope you get it sorted out and keep the jeep.

it's a CONTRACT, not a warranty. By agreeing to it, you agreed to abide by the requirements….

It is what it is. It's not a free something for nothing. They make the money back and likely that "warranty" is backed by some insurance company or similar.

And I will bet $10k the warranty company is owned by the parent company of the dealership. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

My experience is they half-ass it. It’s a selling tool. Drag the customer out post sale, sandbag the process, wear them down and flush them down river. People get lucky. Not where I’m at.

At the end of the day, I love my jeeps, both past and current. I’ve just learned that dealers of all kinds, auto, truck, motorcycle, RV…all of them…are about the initial sale, not the service after the sale, so it’s unusual to find a good dealer after the sale…IMHO. As a result, if I have a failure in the initial warranty term on my Gladiator and Jeep will address the issue, fine. If not, I’ll just handle it myself.

RV dealers are a lot worse than auto/truck dealers as there are few lemon laws for RVs. That one year warranty that came with our $200,000 motorhome wasn’t worth the paper it was written on. I knew it going into the purchase, so it was only an irritation when nothing every got fixed right. here again, I took care of issues, paid the bill and got on with life…and we love The Beast.

A "lifetime warranty", is simply another method for the dealership to generate more revenue. It's that simple. Remember, all of the extras or add-ons that a dealer sells is to make money, not lose it. Yes, it's possible that in some individual cases they lose money, but as a whole, they are making money. Same as with your car insurance. Pick the numbers, but let's say you have a new 50k vehicle and pay 2k for year insurance. If you accidently run off the road, the first week, hit a tree and total it, you could get all or most of the money back to buy another one. So the insurance company loses. But there are 50 others they insure that don't get totaled so they come out ahead (of course there could be smaller losses on a few to further reduce their profits but you get the idea).

Also, with the "lifetime warranty" thing, some I have seen require you to have the dealer do all the service to maintain the contract. Skip an oil change, or even do it yourself and your chances of them voiding the contract increase. Of course, they will play be the book, or exceed it, when it comes to maintenance that has to be done on the vehicle. And you will be surprised how quickly things like shocks, brakes and other "wear and tear" items will need to be replaced that are not covered by the contract.

So these long term contracts may be useful and create some peace of mind but be aware that in the end, you are still paying a lot more for things along the way that could be purchased elsewhere or even DIY.

If I may ask, what is Lexus a "heavy contender" for? If I am missing something or not aware of some Lexus products comparable to a Gladiator Rubicon or Mojave, please inform me (and some others here too). Are there models you can actually off-road in? Lift kits, lockers, winches, etc.??????

Sure. I’m not bitter. You’re right, a GX500 is an over glorified station wagon you can’t remove the top or doors from. The benefit? Reliability, Access to top notch service, etc.
At 53, you start asking yourself what’s practical and question why you have had certain products for so long… This is my 5th Jeep. Love em, but it’s like a relationship… if she’s cheating and burning thru money, it may not be cheaper to keep her. That’s all. This is a risk analysis.

Well a free lifetime warranty should have thrown the red flag. You still have the factory warranty. Once you reach 36K I would feel confident all issues has been worked out. I'm on my second Gladiator. I've only been to the dealership one time for the steering box replacement on my 2020. I stand by my previous comment...enjoy your Gladiator and stop worrying something is going to happen.

Yep best advice I can give is as I have stated before nest egg. 4,000 in a savings acct. If something happens its there and the out of pocket doesn't feel so abrupt and painful.
