Good deal on Badlands Apex winches this week (Aug 11-17 2025)

With those who are on running this winch setup on a factory bumper and suspension, what springs can be bought to bring the front end back up? I am running a Rubicon diesel and curious as to what is being used to replace factory front springs. I'm undecided if im going to lift it yet . Or is this even an issue with sagging? I haven't got mine mounted yet. Just thinking ahead. I do plan on putting a set of 35x11.50's on probably next summer.

You certainly should investigate the stiffer springs for the Diesel, especially with the winch. I have seen here several times that, for whatever reason, the Diesels come with stock springs that allow them to bottom out over rough terrain. I don't have a Diesel in mine but I'm sure someone here can add more insight into the matter.

If you plan on doing a lift, I believe you will have to get new springs anyway (I have never lifted a Jeep I have owned so I am just speaking from information I have read here and other sources). So it just seems to make sense to me to decide if you are going to lift it then get the springs that are specified with the kit.

Myself, gasoline engine, I am not planning on stiffer springs or anything, till the shocks wear out, and it is time to replace them all. I'm only losing an inch....and I dont rock crawl, just sand float here in FLA, and the occasional mud plowthrough.
I did a lot of asking friends what they did with the winch in the factory bumper, beforehand, and they hadn't done anything, or planned on doing anything, one said he thought it would wear out faster...if so- then I go back to my first statement. If it is a problem, Ill go back to the trailer hitch cradle idea, then figure out a way to move it from the bed to the back, when I need it. I really wanted to do that originally, because, if I am stuck, I want to pull myself BACK, not forward.

If you are not going the lift it. You will need spacers or another set of front springs to keep it from bottoming out.

If not lifting and want to use springs instead of spacers. Use these springs. These will raise the front up little over an inch.

Get rid of the oem Fox shocks. They are valved too soft to begin with. Bang for the buck is Bilstein 5100 shocks.

You could do 1/4 or 1/2 inch spacer pucks on top of the springs. That would keep your ride and handling about the same.

I did the Teraflex 1.5" and after settling it's back to the factory rake which I prefer.

True, but HF tends to put them on sale several times a year. The Apex 12000 was about $500 with the coupon about two months ago.

But I was talking to the manager at the HF I mainly shop at and he told me on big ticket items to buy them now when you see them on sale since they are as confused as everyone else about what "His Majesty" will do next with the tariffs ... lol.

I quit buying Harbor Freight winches a couple years ago when prices went full on influencer Stimmy fueled banana's.

400-450 for an Apex is fair, but the 700 they were asking, and not offering sales on, was madness.

My 4runner and Gladiator both have Xbull winches from Amazon that were a lot cheaper than the HF stuff when I bought them.

I've never had an off brand winch fail me. I've never bought a name brand winch.
