Those lights are enormous . But I like em
The body is roughly the same size has the headlight. They aren't that big. Its just angle of the dangle :CWL:. Baja Designs LP6. Their LP9's make the LP6 look tiny. The low and high beam feature of the LP6 is nice though.

Hah. I think I have the same lights. The hoop makes them look smaller.

That’s all that you can see on my wiring. I spent a lot to time hiding everything and it’s all run into my aux switches minus my winch. There are accessories you can’t see here. I’m using 3/4 aux switches

American adventure lab. I don’t recommend ordering from them unless you’re cool with it showing up 3 mo later with sparse communication along the way. It’s a shame. It’s a good product with a reasonable price.

Badland Apex 12,000

It's been a minute since i had a winch on a jeep, but since i have the steel bumper for it, i wanna do it.

I've heard good things about the Badland Apex, any owners testimonies on it? Any one running the Wran VR Evo?

Of course harbor freight is one of my top 5 fav stores, LOL so I'm not against it at all. But what all will i need to mount the Apex 12k?

I put the Grimm plate on my JTR as suggested by a couple of people here for ease of install and no cutting or drilling when using it with the Apex 12000. The Grimm is heavy, thick and one-piece so there is no bolting it together. It is a bit pricey at $300 or so but overall for well under $1,000 ($300 + $480 winch with coupon), you can still stay under $1,000 even with a few accessories.

Best of luck in your decision.

Edit: I forgot to mention I do have the Jeep OEM steel "winch ready" bumper. If you have a different one or planning on an aftermarket bumper, then read back through some of the threads here regarding what combos others have used. Also, the Warn winches offer (from what I have read here) a lifetime warranty on some of their winches. That is a definite plus compared to the Apex 12000 which only comes with a 90 days standard warranty and a two year extended warranty for around $175 more if I remember correctly. So that may be a factor in your choice. I personally figured I would take the chance with the 90 day warranty and be done with it. If it ever needed a major repair, I would bolt in another one and still have money left over for a third one compared to the price of the Warn. But to each his own.

The Warn winch plate is solid too and bolts right up. That’s what I used for my Apex 12k. No regrets with it, but I’ve honestly only used it a handful of times.

Bulldog winch plate. Heavy steel and reinforced bottom. I like that it goes behind the frame ears and not between the bumper and the frame.

I should have taken a look at the Bulldog plate. Looks like I would have saved some money too. Seems intuitively like a better/stronger location to mount it.

LOD Black Ops bumper, XBull winch, my third one, have one on a trailer, had one on our Grand Cherokee.

No wiring tricks, just hooked up per the directions.

Tried a cheap bumper, twisted beyond all repair on the first pull, wrecked the winch... Tried a Fishbone, same cheap crap steel, put it right back in the box and sent it back.

LOD is a beast, no problems, countless pulls on it now, including while hooked to our camper.

I went with a Rockhard Bumper because I occasionally tow my Jeep. I bought a 12K Badlands winch from Harbor Freight. If you watch for a sale, you can get ~$100 off. I bought the model winch that has synthetic rope. I've had a winch with steel cable and I much prefer the synthetic rope. My winch has been on for 5 years. The only negative is the factory stickers curled up and looked bad. I'd do the same thing the same way again.

I went with a Warn 9.0Rc but after gaining a few thousand pounds I have a Warn Zeon 12s coming. The 9.0 will go on my CJ. Picture before I installed the rope.
