That was not unique to Iacocca when it came to corporate buyouts and mergers.
Absolutely, but he really took the cake according to those who were there in the room with him. A nasty guy.
Some companies will maintain spare parts, even for a few years after a buyout. He wanted it all gone.

But let’s look at the current situation where vehicles in CURRENT production can’t even get parts. I’m looking at you Kineskis!

In many cases, you can blame the suppliers.
At least with the AMC/Iacocca bit - it was stuff already made, body panels, grills, bumpers, all stuff made by them and in stock - crush and dumpster it.

The nice thing with options is being able to to make the choice, everyone on here that has the EcoDiesel is living proof that a 392 wouldn't be a bad thing. Unless everyone that had the EcoDiesel on here happened to regret their choice.
I believe people buy the diesel because it IS a diesel with the positive attributes of a diesel, not much else. Some, if not many, diesel people want diesel, not gas.
I bought the EcoDiesel for the power and the mileage, more specifically the range.
While the 392 has the power, it definitely doesn't have the range.
I do like diesels, but more importantly I like decent power and need decent range. We like to go places and I'm not stopping every 100 miles for fuel. The 392, just like an EV would give me range anxiety.

Diesel wins the range hands-down. No contest.
The EPA MPG on a V8 Wrangler is around 14, I believe. That's range anxiety - even for me, as I'm used to 18-21 mpg (now 17 with this new one) on the JTs.
My wife's 4xe - about 300 miles between stops - we stopped sooner as she gets paranoid. Around here, though, plugging in daily, she goes weeks with no gas use.

We can do an easy 350 miles in the JTRD on 35s or JLURD on 33s. Could stretch that to 400 miles safely most times. But at some point I need to stretch.

I can do 250+ miles pulling our enclosed trailer loaded for a week at the dunes. That will get us most places we want to take the SxS on one tank. That's my minimum standards for range. The 3.6 definitely isn't doing that without some kind of extra tank. Don't think the 392 would either.

I tried to get the wife to trade hers for a 4xe, it would easily last her a week, just going to work and back. But she's a no go on electrification for now.

My Overlands, light lift, A/T tires, would go 300 - but not always.
This one is 280-300, no load.
Yes diesel wins the range wars.

My point exactly..

Glad it serves you well and glad you had the option to buy what served you well.

I'm happy with the 2.0L JLUR it's been getting 18-21 mpg hand calculated. In contrast my JTM has been 16.5-19mpg and my old 2025 Rebel 3.0 S/O got 16.5-22 mpg. If that 3.0L would fit in a JL/JT that would be a real performer.

Significant updates today. Missed the call, I typically travel on Fridays.

Absolutely nothing about the JT at all though. All pickup, Durango, and Charger related.

The extension of the Compass, MP, through 27 or 28, means nothing for Belvedere and no launches next year :(

Looks like he's currently gone back to politics.

And saying he told you so after the REV was canceled, when he never in fact, told you so.
