It's not an expensive replacement. All three hoses with the connectors was only $150 at the dealer. $150 and a gallon of antifreeze is smart preventative maintenance.

I replaced my hoses last year (177k miles). I had what I thought was a small leak at the connector. When I went to remove the hoses, one of the connectors pretty much crumbled in my hands. The connector had deteriorated. Once I removed everything I noticed one of the hoses was looking a little bad, so I decided to replace all three. The heat breaks down rubber and plastic and even if there's no visible damage to one of the hoses, there may be internal damage. And for $150, it was a smart move.

But, I understand. Everyone isn't like me. Gotta do what you gotta do.✌🏾
That's the American ways lol. Replacing just a couple dollars broken part is overated, must replace any adjacent parts too. Cartridge filters were meant to be more environmental friendly than spin-on, but now we must replace it with plastic cap too (ecodiesel). Why offers just the cartridges for just a few bucks when adding couple bucks more of plastic and sell them for $90. Because it's the American ways.

That was just my experience. When you have 177k miles, a damaged connector, damaged hose, and another hose that looks like I may have to be replaced it in the future, replacing all three wasn't the american way, it was the smart way.

But... I understand what you mean. Anything to get a few more dollars out of the consumer is the american way.

Ok. Good. That was a smart decision on their part.
The tech could not find the leak so I kindly point it out and was like, well hot damn, we'll get you fixed up today.

Yes, as a former tech, I could see how it was over looked based on basic diagnostics..........BUT that's what separates the pros from the joes...........look for evidence

Update. The leak restarted in the same spot near plastic connector below coolant reservoir about a week after replacing the plastic connector. Soon after I was in an accident and didn't have my Jeep for quite awhile.

I am convinced the bottom of tank was slightly warped or something as opposed to having two plastic connectors fail.

Rather than replace unit with plastic and try another new connector, I replaced with an aluminum tank that had an aluminum elbow piece on the bottom so the plastic connector could be eliminated completely.

Will see if this thing holds up! So far, so good.

Looks like this one on Amazon. Coolant Tank

At first I liked this one because of the site tube. Now I'm not so sure as that tube looks like the first failure point.

My OCD of being able to see the fluid level made me order this one but in hindsight should have bought one without this tube because it does seem flimsy, will have keep an eye on it..

Addition of 4 possible leak points - the tube at each end and the fittings into the tank, top and bottom.

Assuming those do fine, what's the cost vs the OEM tank? Is it more expensive or less?

I believe the stock plastic one from Mopar was about $40-$50 plus shipping. This aluminum was $73 shipped.
