No offense , But bwahahahaa that aint been my experience. I figure its like anything else some are some are not.
I've been driving Tacos for 16 years - work truck. First a 2009, now the 2023. They've been far less reliable than my Gladiator.

A Toyota 4runner is the only vehicle that ever catastrophically failed on me. I know it may have been a one off fluke, but I've never trusted them since.

The batt would have been very nice for camping. The truck would have made good power and much less fuel then the v8. Oh well thank god I have my Eco Diesel which I would not change anyhow.
You have the best version of the JT. If I had a dream powertrain lineup for the truck, it'd be the 2.0L regular hybrid, 4xe, and a diesel. The 3.6 is an unreliable dog, the V8 is an overpriced noise maker.

Iam talking about the new, 4th generation Tacoma hybrid with 8speed transmission. Gets about 23 mpg and is an all new platform. You should look into one of those. Has lots of ground clearance, Toyota reliability, 326hp/465tq and a big honkin infotainment screen so you can jam out to John Denver on your way to the early bird at Bob Evan's.

Doesn't hurt to go test drive one!
I fill up probably once every two to 3 months in my 4xe. 23 mpg sounds horrible in comparison. 375 horsepower, 470 lb ft of torque in a lighter vehicle than the Toyota as well. And I keep an SFA to go crawl.

All while keeping no ridiculous safety sensors and a smaller screen.

I've had bad luck with them. Personal observation. Glad its worked out and definitely happy for those that are problem free. Just not a choice on my dream list.

Although if it's a dream list, the bored out 4.2L AMC I6s with a factory turbo and a PHEV setup would be my ultimate pick. Mechanical reliability, EV torque, good power.

I liked my last one (86K or so trouble free miles). My '22 is doing fine (only 33K or so though).

Now, I have mentally prepared myself for it to eat a cam some day.

I even hyped myself up about how easy it is to do it compared to many other DOHC engines. So by the time it happens (if it does), I'll just be like shit this isn't anything a Saturday and a few Corona's can't fix 😆

Perspective, I guess.

I see you hung on the EV , there could be a huge thread alone discussing the environmental and human rights issues that go into the mining & production of the batteries alone. But to each his own.

If that thread is started I'd expect numerous bans. Best to..... NOT!

Toyota will be laughing all the way to the bank if this is true.
In fairness, Toyota is already laughing all the way to the bank given the sales numbers of the Tacoma vs literally every other midsize truck.

Sorry, not a fan of the styling in any way. The interiors of most Toyotas feel claustrophobic. Can't stand the center display sticking up like someone stuck a big tablet there, or the windshield sloped back to my forehead.
Toyota reliability - well, we could talk to the guy who has done some work around here about his experiences........ (his Nissan was even worse)
My 3.6 has plenty of zip and pulling power to haul anything I haul. No issues. Don't need more HP.
Sorry, the styling is hard to get past.
I like a truck that looks like a truck inside and out.
I see nothing about the toyota I like at all. Not a thing.
Even if you styled it more like I'd want, and open up the cab inside and move the windshield away from my head, I see no advantage.

Western says "sorry, no plow for this configuration" when I plug in the 2025 Tacoma.

Piece of cake for a Jeep - and, I could put my same plow on a Wrangler if I wanted.
So I guess the Toyota is out on all fronts. No advantage at all for ME.

(yes, I did check what trucks a plow like this will work on a while back before trading...... Jeep won)

The 3.6 is an unreliable dog
A matter of perspective........... we've had 6, or is it 7, I've lost track.
No 3.6 has ever failed on us to date.
As far as "a dog", if you take the preconceived notion that RPM is bad off it and let it run as designed, I've never felt it underpowered or a dog.
So it depends on your use and expectations.
My 3.6 will easily keep up the speed limits towing, even exceed them, while my V8 F250 had to be floored to keep up speed, and my LS V8 powered Silverado had to hit 5,000 RPM to make the hills here while towing.

Personal preference for the powertrain type. True green transportation is mass transit and bikes. Buying an EV as a purely environmental choice is as silly as buying anything "for the environment." Reduce, reuse, recycle for the green stuff. Plus policy. But that's a wholly unrelated can of worms.

Could have been my transmission pairing then for performance
. I have had them hooked to 3 pedal six speeds only. But reliability has been a plague for them in my household. 4 motors, 4 different problems
