What an awesome vehicle that would have been. I’d have signed up for one in a heart beat.

That Chinese BYD shark 6 went on sale here and instantly it’ up to the fifth highest selling 4x4 here.

I’d gladly do without 50% of the Shark 6 range for the solid axles and transfer case.

I hardly know the nuances from package to package the way, say, @ShadowsPapa does - but the High Tide package seems to have a lot of the Overland stuff these days.

It appears they come with leather heated power seats, painted tops and fenders, etc. Not an exact one for one - but looks solid (to me). Heck if it had 4.10 gears or was available with Max Tow I'd almost have to eat crow on my words 'Im currently driving my last Gladiator'.

Yeah to an extent on the High Tide. Also the new Nighthawk is probably the most similar. But the Overland specifically was a gem and I'm so glad I got it. Jeep finally realized (after the fact) that it was arguably the best trim for its value feature wise at a reasonable price range. "Coincidentally" was the only trim to RIP after 2024. By far the perfect trim to build from to have a lot of features from. I'm sure @ShadowsPapa would also agree.

Ive said this before. But Id rather have (start from) my fully loaded Overland with EVERY option and feature than a Rubicon with plastic fenders, cloth seats, and dull crappy headlights. Now if the price gap to have the same said features on a Rubicon wasnt so high of course I would. But thats not the case and I couldnt justify an extra 10-12k at the time of purchase on features I'd rarely use and still not have the things I like and would use daily.

My hang up on them was always the lack of 4.10s - otherwise I'd have ordered one.

I looked at Mojave's - didn't want specialty shocks and mounts to deal with later, or extreme remorse if I lifted it and got rid of the suspension I paid dearly for...(they are my FAVORITE looking Gladiator, though).

I looked at Rubi's - didn't need front and rear lockers to wheel 14 badge trails across 7 states last time, didn't figure I needed to throw the money away to do it this time.

Not to mention for BOTH of those I was paying a weight penalty and losing a lot of payload.

Overland & WIlly's were just lacking in gear.

Sport S / Max Tow is my love child like a lot of you guys feel about the Overland

I also grew up, my whole life, with the 'nice vehicles' just being cloth seat trucks that finally had power windows. I guess it's just what I associate 'nice' with now

I think the High Altitude was an even better value. An Overland with more options cheaper than adding them to an Overland.

Nothing to do with the administration, and everything to do with the market

We're simply removing false barriers to the market in favor of what people will actually buy

If Jeep thought these would sell well, they'd be made

I do think hybridized drivetrains are the way to go in the future. Especially ones like the 4xE that won't leave you stranded if you run out of battery, but I think Stellantis designed the whole system simply as a way to get through CAFE standards rather than a truly future-looking system. Also definitely possible that it's designed too expensively to be manufactured without massive subsidies

At the end of the day, this isn't political, it's financial
