Im gonna make my own argumentI'm going to make a simple economic argument for the 4XE for V8 lovers.
1. You love V8s
2. MFRs drop EVs/PHEVs to make V8s instead.
3. Everyone buys V8s
4. national average fuel economy goes down, driving demand for oil up.
5. Oil prices go up >2x, pump prices go up >2x
(see where we are now compared to how much worse it's been in the past: https://inflationdata.com/articles/inflation-adjusted-prices/historical-oil-prices-chart/)
6. You no longer love your V8.
More EVs and more PHEVs on the road means lower future fuel prices for those who love to burn it.
Really not surprising though given they are a European based company that just had brands and factories based in North America. Europeans despite their checkered past the last century with failed politics of their own have an arrogance that the North American market will lap up the European model of business. To be fair though, it is reversed with North American companies running European brands thinking the same thing. It's rather shocking that someone like Tavares was able to become CEO considering his lack of vision. He totally disregarded free market capitalism. At some point, you have to put away your political differences and listen to what your customers want. He failed on so many levels.
I never researched any of those dudes. I just want to drive my JeepReally not surprising though given they are a European based company that just had brands and factories based in North America. IMHO, FCA's Sergio Marchionne was the only real European CEO that understood and properly run the company for the North American market. I think had he not died and continued on through the Stellantis formation, we would be better off and not made the same mistakes Carlos Tavares did.
I agree 100%. Sergio understood the North American market and respected the culture. I'll go one step further and say that he actually enjoyed the North American culture. A lot of people don't know this, but Sergio was a big reason why the Gladiator came into existence. Back in 2017, Sergio was talking about the Jeep midsize truck and said, "It's built on a Wrangler base and that's all I need to say. People have been waiting on that vehicle for years". I'm obviously biased because Segio is the reason why I have a 2015 Ram EcoDiesel, 2020 Ram EcoDiesel, and 2023 Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel. I think he was smart about shared technology.IMHO, FCA's Sergio Marchionne was the only real European CEO that understood and properly run the company for the North American market.
I know this all too well. I had a 2020 Tacoma before my JTRD and I hated it. Piss poor performance, piss poor economy, and a transmission that was about as predictable as a bipolar squirrel on crack.Like the old Toyota axiom, "the power of a 4 cylinder with the fuel consumption of a V8"
Same, really wanted one, maybe next gen.I'm hugely disappointed, the 4xe is the best drivetrain and I really wanted a gladiator version so I could tow my airstream and have the power box capability onboard. Would have been the ideal camping combination. I towed a smaller 5000lbs camper with my 4xe and it was excellent, hemi torque with the ability to power the complete unit anywhere. Bummer.
HATE trans on my 23. Terminally confused. Toyota sucks.I know this all too well. I had a 2020 Tacoma before my JTRD and I hated it. Piss poor performance, piss poor economy, and a transmission that was about as predictable as a bipolar squirrel on crack.
Same - had the 4xe been coming up, I was ready to time my trade based on the release of the 4xe. And yet someone here said I'd be "better served" with a Taco.......... while you and others complain about the transmissions and so on. Apparently the one making such a recommendation has never owned one.lol @ Youtube comments.

Toyota will be laughing all the way to the bank if this is true. We have a RAV4 Prime PHEV and rooftop solar. I was looking forward to a JTR PHEV.Well. Guess I won't be getting back in a Gladiator. Love my Wrangler 4xe but was looking forward to a JT one. V8 is a big pass for me. Overpriced and thirsty. Torque not as down low
I got enough crap to take care of learning the intricacies of this 3.6L and its 850RE I dont want to learn another one. To each their own but No thank you not me. Hard PassSame, really wanted one, maybe next gen.
Me too. Even with the Tesla I still have so much excess I was hoping for another electric something.Toyota will be laughing all the way to the bank if this is true. We have a RAV4 Prime PHEV and rooftop solar. I was looking forward to a JTR PHEV.
