“It can be done.….. And for any fullsize truck and especially the HD models everywhere, it SHOULD be done”

I'll take "why are new vehicles so expensive for 500 Alex"

I had a cheapo tpms for camper off Amazon years back. Similar to the op. It was good for maybe 1 season, then basically useless. Constantly disconnecting, beeping annoyingly with bad readings, very unreliable. Maybe they've gotten better but it was crap

With our next camper and jt, I decided to get he lippert TireLinc. It was definitely more expensive, maybe 200-250 when I got it, but it's way better quality imo

It includes a repeater that's mounted in the trailer and hard wired. The sensors replace the valve caps. The repeater connects via Bluetooth to phone (or tablet i suppose) so there's no extra gizmo on the dash. Alerts come up like any notification on my phone and smart watch. There's even an app for android auto to see alerts on the head unit (this is a bit newer I think, or at least I only recently discovered so can't speak to how well the android auto part works)

Never had connection issues in maybe 8k miles towing this setup. Very pleased with it. For me it's a buy once cry once choice. I'll pay 3x for a tpms that's reliable and hassle free

🤪 Well, I’d rather spend the $$ on useful tools (such as - trailer TPMS sensors) than some other ‘safety nanny’ feature cuz people are too damn lazy (or stupid) to do it themselves. But, that’s the world we live in….

MAYBE, You totally misunderstand the reasoning for the TPMS system to begin with. it's not that people don't check their tires when going o a trip.
It's to warn you that a tire is damaged and/or losing air and about to become a serious risk.

This is the EXACT reason I got the system that I got so that if something goes awry, I'll know about it before either having a serious accident or, causing one myself by not being able to respond fast enough to the issue.

We cannot see what's going on with our trailer tires so to have a visual/audible alarm (visual, loss of pressure or total loss of tire if the sidewall blows out, and audible as the system beeps and tells you, "Houston, we have a problem...") to let you know something has gone or, is going sideways.

Thanks for the heads I will be getting two of these I have been looking into a system to retro fit My 96 k2500 7.4 suburban tow rig (no tpms) and the secon set cause i didn't know i wanted one till now, for my 16 ft Big Tex car trailer even though I keep it in good shape and have good tires on it ... bougie like all 5 tires match (yes the spare too!) I have lost a tire before on a camper and its sketch

Well, you were talking about the costs and nannies and people who don't check their own...
Does this look familiar:

" people are too damn lazy (or stupid) to do it themselves"

Saying it's for people who don't heck their own tire pressure"
That's not what it's for.
So, yeah, it appeared from your post you didn't know what it was really for.

How else would one take that? "safety nanny feature cuz people are too damn lazy to do it for themselves - when we are talking about tire pressure sensors.

Say what you mean - it makes things easier. Or did you really mean they are because people are too stupid to check their own (tire pressure)

Follow along my friend…. Or maybe you missed it…. someone mentioned -

Has nothing to do with checking your tire pressure. We need safety nannies cuz people can’t look in their blind spots, they can’t look for oncoming traffic or check to make sure nothing is behind them, etc …. and apparently, we need a warning on the screen to remind people to check the back seat so they don’t forget their kids 😳😳😳

In my opinion….. TPMS isn’t the same thing (as the above). You can check your tire pressure 10X a day and still have an issue while driving - there’s nothing you can do to prevent a failure on the road.

Time to set up another ignore..........

I figure for someone who just went through literal brain surgery and had holes cut in the skull, I'm not doing too bad considering the side effects of the oxy and surgery itself.

tel me you have never long hauled at car trailer without telling me .... you're cruising at 70's and your trailer clips some obstruction on the interstate .. a tpms and planned decell to the right shoulder would be bad ass instead of panic fishtail with a blow out... sorry I'll take some tech and i put at least 40k a year on my rigs and tow equipment. Hell in the year and 6 months i owned my JT i have 46464 as of tonight minus the 22 it came with

Fight nice, children

I didn't start this thread to start a flame war. It was more to be an informational thread about TPMS for our trailers (which I didn't know one could even get a system like this until I saw them at my local RV stealership) and found what appears to be a decent, more affordable and workable system for enhanced safety information for if something goes sideways.

I've hauled my campers (once a guy passed me honking and pointing to tell me about a tire on my camper that had started to go) and my car haulers and other flat bed trailers across many states and through mountains. I'd LOVE to have TPMS on a trailer.

I've not had a blowout on a car trailer or other flat bed trailer but know many who have, some have had multiple blowouts and went through 2 spares on his way from Western Canada to the big AMC show in Kenosha (poor fellow went through crazy hail in the states, too - luckily it was an enclosed trailer.)

I didn't know one could even get a system like this until I saw them at my local RV stealership
I didn't know, either - I knew "other companies" had such, even connections for trailer cameras, but this is the first I'd seen that, gotta be honest.
And I will have one before I haul my cars again.
Possibly the one you have since you have shown how it works, and have tried it, it's marked in my Amazon lists.

The safety nannies that I’d rather NOT have to pay for …….
. …… safety nannies cuz people can’t look in their blind spots, they can’t look for oncoming traffic or check to make sure nothing is behind them, etc …. and apparently, we need a warning on the screen to remind people to check the back seat so they don’t forget their kids 😳😳😳

And yes… I’ve been on the highway where my TPMS sensors went off on my Tacoma. Luckily for me, It was only 1/2 mile for me to get off the highway and into a parking lot where the tire went flat.
