To critique this as a incredibly short sighted change is woefully understated. From a security perspective, Carplay/Android auto is emulation only, so data doesn’t leave your device. For someone in the tech world, with locked down devices, there’s no way messaging systems would ever be allowed on auto-centric systems vs sandboxed MDM phone devices.

No ability to respond to critical messages while sitting in ungodly traffic, makes me less efficient & a non-starter when looking for a vehicle. Stupid.

GM, you killed the Camaro. It has been a beloved vehicle in your line up since the 1960's,
What else is in store for your loyal customers?

GM: "Hold my beer".

Aside from Tesla, none of the car manufacturers could ever get their infotainment user interface, right. Thats been the case before carplay and it will continue to be the case after. Good luck GM, keep putting out more garbage.
I genuinely hate teslas interface. It’s just too much.

Agreed. On this note, it drives me nuts that I can get CarPlay via Siri (who I despise) to read me a text message, or a WhatsApp message, and I can reply. But for some reason I can’t do that with Apple mail, or outlook on iOS? So dumb.

Google assistant can’t assist with anything. It’s totally inept.
Mine is awesome. It blocks all my spam calls and texts, and lets me know when weird shit is going on outside my house.

Recently it helped me get the cam bearing orientation correct on my XR400 top end rebuild. I just pointed the camera at it and asked if it was right, and it not only brought up the correct orientation of the bearings, it explained the changes Honda made between 96, 97, and later models. I never even told it what make and model it was looking at.

90% of my interaction with the Tesla interface is done with voice command. Click the scroller and say “navigate to ___” and it just starts navigating. None of this, annoying 3-4 different prompts on our Jeeps, just to get the navi started.

I tried it when I first got the jeep . It constantly erased my phone umber favorites list . So I deleted the app off the phone and stuck 2 charges in the ports. No more problems now. Phone favorites stay right where they belong..
I actually disliked Android Auto alot.

well, then youre going to need an entire physical keyboard and a mouse to type in the destination address into the navigation :surprised:. Voice command is superior, when its done right.

That's how I do it in the Jeep. Just press the voice button and say "Home Depot" and the navigation comes up and gives me the route. If I want to hear a certain song or album, just press the button and say it.

Soon, these MFR will rolls out their own apps and requires constant updates and subscription service for it to functions. Call me old school, but i don't want any subscriptions type of services ties to my vehicles, especially after it's paid off. In fact, i called in and canceled my XM Gardian on the 2nd day of ownership. I just hates the feeling being hostage to an entity who aren't paying my bills or salaries.

Whats a waze ?
Is that your schtick to ask what something is that is common knowledge to 99% of normal people?

I thought you were trolling with not knowing who Carl Sagan was and now this.
