(Ram Dakota) midsize pickup truck to be built in Toledo in 2028!

Very disappointing. Ford has created a segment unknowingly and in only a couple years cleared 350K Mavs and counting.

I can't remember if it was Mopar Insiders or TFL, but one mentioned that their Stellantis source hinted that Jeep would most likely be the one to release a subcompact pickup. Of course, the word 'pickup' should be used lightly when talking about subcompact trucks. By definition, the PT Cruiser was classified as a pickup. But it sounds like Jeep has been toying with this idea for at least a year or two.

...I'd totally buy a Maverick to daily back and forth to work, especially with the longer commute I will be having.

As a Mopar fanboy, I won't push through my own biasness to purchase a Ford, but I agree that the Maverick would be suitable for commutes. The Maverick is also appealing because buyers can get up to 4,000 lbs of towing and a useable 4.5' (33.3 cubic feet) bed.

Personally, I would most likely pay the additional $10,000 for a midsize truck (Gladiator or Dokota), but I'd give Jeep or Ram a good look if they came out with a subcompact truck.

As a Mopar fanboy, I won't push through my own biasness to purchase a Ford, but I agree that the Maverick would be suitable for commutes. The Maverick is also appealing because buyers can get up to 4,000 lbs of towing and a useable 4.5' (33.3 cubic feet) bed.

Personally, I would most likely pay the additional $10,000 for a midsize truck (Gladiator or Dokota), but I'd give Jeep or Ram a good look if they came out with a subcompact truck.

I don't have a ton of brand bias right now, and I'm not in the market for a little bitty truck anyway so I guess it's a moot point.

If the Gladiator went away there is a strong chance I'd replace it with a Ram (Hemi) or Silverado (5.3L). If my Camaro went away instead, I'd hunt down a nice condition LBZ Silverado and buy my first diesel (well second if you count my John Deere ).

I personally don't envision getting rid of my JTR ('24) anytime in the foreseeable future but I know my time is coming. When the time comes and I can no longer easily get into it, hand my keys to my wife, sit on the sofa watching soap operas every day and have a bowl of oatmeal for lunch, then I may consider something smaller, like a Santa Cruz or Maverick. Maybe by that time, Jeep will have something similar to fill the gap.

I have more trouble getting down into lower vehicles than our Jeeps. Getting into and out of my Javelin is a pain in the butt these days.

I have the same problem cause I gotta bend in half and fall into the darn things & usually Crack my cranium on the way in.

I wouldnt walk across the street and spend your money to buy a Ford even if you begged me. I just cant do that to someone.

And I have been warned against doing that - there's bits of plastic holding the wires and electrodes and I'm not sure if they used MOPAR thread locker on the screws when they put them in or not

I'm not sure why I struggle with brand loyalty. Although, I was never like that in my early days. When I was 14 years old, my first car was a used 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Two years later, I had a used 1985 Monte Carlo SS. I had the Monte Carlo until it was stolen, then had a used 1993 GMC Sierra. Then I got married and we bought a used 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Chrysler was at a turning point in the late 1990s, which was a pivotal time in my life. I graduated high school in 1995 and college in 1999. Ram broke through with their new bold and aggressive body style. The Wrangler TJ was the most capable off-road vehicle and became wildly popular. The Grand Cherokee WJ was highly regarded and had record sales. The Dodge Viper was the fastest American production car at that time. By the early 2000's, I noticed that farmers, ranchers, and hay/cattle haulers were buying Dodge Cummins dually trucks. Fast forward to 2006, and we bought our first Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins. Since then, my wife and I have only bought Mopar.

I also feel that Chevrolet and Ford are household names. I kind of like owning the brand with less familiarity, less predictability, and a narrower market appeal driven by niches and specialty vehicles. I think this is why I'm brand loyal to Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep.

Imagine how I feel -

After we got married, we had the Gremlin and my AMX - which had to go in favor of an Eagle wagon once kids came along.

My Grandfather's was always a Jeep Guy and Dad too. Last 2 vehicles He owned was an Eagle and then a ZJ Grand Cherokee . And He also had a Willys which was given to an indirect relative through my Uncle ( which I disagreed with ) but water under the bridge . My other uncle still has a Willys .
My Dad Had Jeep JT200 64 model year dodge truck, ram charger a Dodge Van a Grand Cherokee .. there was a few others in the mix but those was our mainstays .
