The Hurricane 6 would have been a rocket in the GC but I’m good with the numbers this things putting out. The party truck is going to be if it’s reliable. I saw one video of the long block on a stand and it appeared to have a large bore down low thru the block. I think it’s for a power steering rack. Kinda makes me wonder how easy that will be to work on. I did see a metal spin on oil filter on the bottom of the engine though which I personallly love.
The 4.2L I6 that Chevrolet used in the Trailblazer in the mid 2000s was like this. I believe a stub shaft for the front differential had to pass through a hole through the oil pan to get to one of the front tires.

So yanking the engine required tearing that apart, too. Or dropping all of it out the bottom in the cradle - like it was built.

Similar to how some cars in the 70s and later had to be done - anyone here work on Hondas and others of the 1970s and 80s? Or a Riveria front wheel drive?

Maybe do a timing belt on a Honda - take apart the left suspension and motor mount.
Many Pontiacs it was impossible to drop the oil pan without major work.

Some people pull the engines out of Eagles from the top - silly fools. It's much easier to drop the whole damned thing out the bottom. They think they are saving time and energy, but trust me, the whole drive train comes out the bottom really neatly. I'll never do one in the traditional "out the top" way. I literally put the whole thing back in with my left arm in a SLING and I'm left-handed.

My aggravation with out the bottom designs is that not all of us shade tree mechanics have lifts to get stuff out the bottom, lol. It's awesome when you have the tools, though.

I don't have a lift and really wish I did.. I can no longer lay under a vehicle to work on it. My inner ears, and Meniere's, have caused me to get sick and a massive headache when I try to lay under something to work on it. Even changing oil is a real challenge these days.

I actually used a gantry crane and chain hoist. It allowed almost complete assembly, including most wiring, installation of the front differential, front driveshaft, transmission, transfer case and more.

Something that I've only had 5 of over the years. A rare bird.
Father to the unibody Jeep.
Yeah, I was joking. I knew a guy who worked with my dad who had several brand new ones in the late 70s and early 80s. My dad used to make fun of his jacked up, 4wd car with woodgrain on the sides.

Space in my shop - I've packed it with so many things, no room for a lift. That's got to change, though. It's becoming a MUST have.
I have 15' ceilings, so the issue is floor space. I need to get rid of some stuff.

You just need more floor space. Less heartache that way.

Yeah, I guess hobbies and age will do that. All those years accumulating stuff. I’ve been trying to clean out my house lately. Too much shit.

Ive heard of designs like this, never seen one. Gotta say it sounds like a pain in the arse. What’s this look like to you?

Add another Bay 😂
Dibbs on the Javelin 🤭
Okay here is a serious idea .
An outside Concrete Pad with 2 post lift buried in the concrete. And a temp shed roof until you can box it in .

I pull those *edit., the 5.3 in Trailblazers, IDGAF about that garbage 4.2, in junkyards in about 2 hours, working leisurely while filming lol.

And people on their couch act like it's completely unbearable.

It's hardly unbearable - just an additional step since they ran out of room at the bottom of the engine.

I've pulled worse engines out of worse vehicles myself 🤣
