as someone in the luxury industry, ill never buy a landrover or mercedes. i dont find either 'luxury' but performance. i feel the same way about bmw and audi, but i respect bmw and audi.

we have no local support for LR's so the people that drive them are in a higher tax bracket than myself. Its for rich people in my area.

edit: steer clear of the TX, grand highlander, and new 4runners for 25-26.

I agree that LR, Merc, BMW, and Audi really aren't "luxury" unless you get into their top tier high dollar models. The majority of what you see on the road are not luxury models, especially today since everything nowadays comes with the same features.

I love BMW design, Audi is hit and miss for me, never have been a big fan of Merc though. And it's tough to beat out-the-door turn-key BMW performance in their respective classes.

ding ding ding. Their 3 series with B whatever motors are stupid easy to tune and get quick HP out of. Id love an M4 or better yet a lightly abused M3 hatchback. Yes please.

Im building a land yacht 02 grand marquis to compete red light to red light with audi and bmws in my area. I guess troll would be a better word.

Base model BMWs and Mercedes are a lot lower end than standard model Audis. I’m not saying that a base model A3/A4, etc is luxurious, but they have more standard features and higher quality interior materials.

I don’t like the current generation Audi interiors with everything touch screen. Bring back the MMI knob!

We’ve become a BMW family….. Our 2nd BMW.
After the bumper-to-bumper runs out…… we’re crossing our fingers. The last BMW we had M340i went 6 years without any issues and was traded it in for an M4. I’m also crossing my fingers I get 6 or more trouble-free years out of both the JT & the M4.
I don't want to turn this into a BMW lovefest, but of all the vehicles I've owned, my E46 was one of my favorites. Fortunately I never became a SoCal Douchebag BMW Driver (at least I don't think I did) 🤔

Jeep Gladiator Not a great list to be at the top of............. frost_whls2

(my E46 was one of the reasons I chose Anvil on my Gladiator - love this color).

I'm 5 audi deep at this point, and probably on my last one that I can't bring myself to sell. Love the twin turbo v8 in my Audi S7.

It's been amazing but with most german cars, you need to know what is the "maintenance item" that the engineers forgot to mention.

Like Ford and the aftermarket powerstroke "bulletproof" kits. German cars have issues that need to be solved or maintained for them to be long-term reliable.

The Audi S7 has oil screens in the turbo's oil feed lines which ARE NOT listed as a maintenance item by Audi, and they have a cast compressor wheel in the turbo. The obvious solution is a big turbo kit.

The only real beef I have against BMWs is that so many are driven by total asshats. I guess they must be fun to drive and to weave in and out of other cars and take right-hand exits from the far left lane and stuff like that. I love quality engineering but would never consider a BMW. I'm afraid I'd start driving like that, too.

I just ditched my '18 Discovery Sport after 4 years, and picked up a '23 Gladiator High Altitude. The DS was fine, it had some nice features, but was not a very exciting vehicle to drive. The 9 speed transmission is horrible, I had to have it serviced almost every year, it just could never find the right gear, always bucking...just terrible. My extended warranty was up soon, so I got out. But I was looking for a new vehicle not long after I brought it home. And, I just didn't really want to be a "Land Rover guy". LOL!
To be honest, if it ain't a Series 3, or older, it ain't really a Landy...

Hah. My Nardo gray Audi was the reason I fell in love with Sting gray.

I do agree there are plenty of asshat BMW drivers, but I also think that stigma came from people saying BMW drivers are assholes because they have money and think they are better than everyone else. I see more asshole Chevy and Ford pickup drivers than anything else on the road. It's usually always a full sized domestic truck thats riding my ass or cutting me off, taking up multiple parking spaces, etc.

Don't blame the BMW......but I totally get it. I guess it depends on where you live.

Around here (southern Amish country PA)....
You don't need an expensive (or good quality, in good shape) car to weave in & out like an asshat.
We get the little 2 door hatchback mini's with about 3 different colored body panels, paint missing, rear bumper barely holding on, a wing out the back that's wider than the car itself, slammed to the ground.... and sounds like a really loud obnoxious fart can. 🙄

Seriously?? I'd rather see the BMW's weaving in & out of traffic like asshats.....as those folks probably have more $$ invested in their cars and/or have a clue about how to drive. VERSUS some dude in a $1000 slammed beatup hatchback that thinks it can drive like a racecar. 😂

It could be many reasons why……... What you need to find, is the data that shows WHY…. What’s the percentages ….

My brother-in-law bought a used Mecan a couple years ago (or so). He hasn’t driven it in a couple months…. Getting emissions errors because the Evap canister is shot. We think it’s because he was overfilling the gas tank. 🙄. After many ‘other’ different attempts to find parts & fix it…. it ended up at the Porsche dealer. It’s been there for a month. They can’t find the parts!!!!

No Thanks…..

We’ve become a BMW family….. Our 2nd BMW.

I am days away from 5yrs.

I dont know why everyone is saying this is a rich person problem, half their line up starts less or comparable to most trucks today.
Good point.
