I wonder why the Mercedes GLB is on this list?

We have one with the AMG trim, red interior and air conditioned seats, and it's actually been good... Nothing but regular maintenance.

They're kind of the 'economy' Mercedes and a bit small so maybe a lot of people that buy them are trading their car in annually?

I helped to open a new Land Rover dealership in 2019 and worked there for a year till they got up and going. Not many people really liked the Discovery Sport, but they bought them on lease deals an ex service loaners. When you call someone up and say you can get them another brand new one for the same price or lower, they typically trade it in. Es, Land Rover customers. We never had pull ahead like that, but Land Rover and jag are struggling super hard right now and they can stack all kinds on incentives together to do it. I texted my friend who’s still the GM there and he said that they do it all the time now. Obviously, you can’t do it all the time, but they do it a lot.
Yep, I get it. I had a friend / acquaintance that sold LRs and he actually sold one to one of the Kardashians (I didn't care which one). He said (at the time) the dealership had a $50K markup that she didn't even blink at. Her handler just wrote a check and they went on their way. He said the lower models were a harder sell because they didn't have the panache and they were just not a well-made automobile. They just sold based on the LR name.

And Jaguar? Yikes. I hope someone is writing a book on how fast Tata Motors can kill a storied brand.

Range Rovers are completely different. Especially, the full size and the Sport isn’t too far behind. Those still sell for MSRP. Occasionally, there are or were small incentives for the Sports.

The only Jags we sold were ex service loaners. Those sold pretty well and the well equipped F-Pace was actually pretty nice. Jag didn’t even sell any 2025 models. Wild. That dealership is doing fine, but they survive on mainly service and used cars. They sell enough new land rovers to keep corporate happy but are helped by the aforementioned incentives.

I dont know why everyone is saying this is a rich person problem, half their line up starts less or comparable to most trucks today.

Truth... Our Mercedes was similarly priced as the JTRD. Both were purchased used but the Mercedes was newer (at the time) and with lower miles.

Standard vehicle prices have increased so much, while luxury vehicle prices haven't increased at the same rate.. The prices aren't drastically different anymore.

From a car guy perspective, especially from someone who lives in Range Rover Town USA, aka Orange County, Land Rovers are just status symbols. I can't make a solid case to choose a Land Rover over any other of its market rivals.

I don't think it's a problem.

I think it's a feature, and they're choosing it.

I’ve heard as well that they are pretty riddled with problems. Of course my wife wants either a Land Rover or the grand wagoneer. 2 models plagued with problems. 🙄
Get her a Grenadier and get the best of both worlds…

It could be many reasons why……... What you need to find, is the data that shows WHY…. What’s the percentages ….

My brother-in-law bought a used Mecan a couple years ago (or so). He hasn’t driven it in a couple months…. Getting emissions errors because the Evap canister is shot. We think it’s because he was overfilling the gas tank. 🙄. After many ‘other’ different attempts to find parts & fix it…. it ended up at the Porsche dealer. It’s been there for a month. They can’t find the parts!!!!

No Thanks…..

We’ve become a BMW family….. Our 2nd BMW.
After the bumper-to-bumper runs out…… we’re crossing our fingers. The last BMW we had M340i went 6 years without any issues and was traded it in for an M4. I’m also crossing my fingers I get 6 or more trouble-free years out of both the JT & the M4.

I've had a few BMW over the years, and we still have an F30. Never had any issues with any of them outside normal wear and tear items. I still kick myself for selling my X5.

When I get asked about BMW issues and repair costs, I always tell people this; the horror stories of issues and high maintenance costs typically come from two types of people, either snobby types that will never be happy and blame everyone else for their problems, or folks that buy high mileage BMWs because they see one for sale for $20,000 and think it's a steal of a price because MSRP is $+80k, but they don't realize they are buying a vehicle thats likely been neglected after warranty expired because the dealership is expensive and the average owner doesn't do their own maintenance. It's a $20k used car that comes with a luxury vehicle maintenance schedule and costs.
