My Dad had a few friends that bought a new car every year, Cadillacs, Corvettes , some foreign car I don’t remember . The Cadillac guy was a great guy , retired and getting the nicest Caddies. Hell I even know a guy on this forum who buys Jeeps on a whim , forget his name , Will, Phil, Hill, something like that . The old guy is on his third Glady already but finally bought the right one a Mojave …… just can’t remember the name , heck he even bought two of the same color!……….Jack
PS, love ya Bud!

I wonder if these are priced on the higher side of things if perhaps folks are learning that having a large vehicle payment is bitting off more than they are willing to chew.

Or, they just don't live up to expectations. If it was a money thing, it would be far more widespread across luxury brands

I can tell you for a fact that the majority of those are because of lease pull ahead programs. Many manufacturers are struggling with sales so they give dealerships huge lease incentives to get customers out of leases early and into a new model. Then most of them are sold as CPO.

I dont know if I have met anyone that has said they absolutely love their LR. Most have said they are riddled with issues.

I do think they can be a great looking vehicle, especially the discovery sport model.

I am sure there is a relationship between (1) buying a Land Rover, (2) having money to burn, and (3) not knowing what they want.

I’ve heard as well that they are pretty riddled with problems. Of course my wife wants either a Land Rover or the grand wagoneer. 2 models plagued with problems. 🙄

I think the problem is, when you buy land rover, you gotta start eating your corn the long way. Some dudes not into that?

I just ditched my '18 Discovery Sport after 4 years, and picked up a '23 Gladiator High Altitude. The DS was fine, it had some nice features, but was not a very exciting vehicle to drive. The 9 speed transmission is horrible, I had to have it serviced almost every year, it just could never find the right gear, always bucking...just terrible. My extended warranty was up soon, so I got out. But I was looking for a new vehicle not long after I brought it home. And, I just didn't really want to be a "Land Rover guy". LOL!

Now go wash your mouth out with a bar of soap for using the "L" word 🤭

I would assume it's perhaps a combo of the scenarios above. That and the fact that Land Rovers are the automotive equivalent of a woman who looks like Sydney Sweeney on the outside but is more of a crotchety old hag where it counts.

Rich people need to have the latest, greatest thing.

They punt cars because it doesn't match their fall ensemble.

To tell a rich person, it's only going to cost you 8,000 bucks to get rid of this last week headline car, is just a price they pay.

I helped to open a new Land Rover dealership in 2019 and worked there for a year till they got up and going. Not many people really liked the Discovery Sport, but they bought them on lease deals an ex service loaners. When you call someone up and say you can get them another brand new one for the same price or lower, they typically trade it in. Es, Land Rover customers. We never had pull ahead like that, but Land Rover and jag are struggling super hard right now and they can stack all kinds on incentives together to do it. I texted my friend who’s still the GM there and he said that they do it all the time now. Obviously, you can’t do it all the time, but they do it a lot.
