Rock Trac is the name for the 4:1 transfer case used in the Rubicon. It works the exact same way as the part time Command Trac case found in other trims. See pages 116-118 in your 2025 owner's manual.

For additional items of interest when you have shifted into 4H or 4L, you should also read up on the Tru-Lok locking differentials, the electronic disconnect swaybar, and Offroad+ features on pages 120-123. :like:

There is no mention of such a nomenclature called “Rock- Trac Part Time” in the pages you reference. I haven’t came across Command trac descriptions either.

There is mention of engine speed 4:1 and description of what 4 high and “auto” does.

i did a document search with the 2025 manual and no such words or comand trac or rock trac surface

I NOW get the system and the name of the transfer case is called “rock-trac” and I understand everything about it, part time and full time.

What doesn’t make sense to me is when you call something by a name but don’t address it in the manual.

Its about as stupid as saying your vehicle is equipped with “chit & git” as a name for the gas pedal, listed on the window sticker but nowhere in the book !

It's a marketing term, and frankly, doesn't make a lick of difference to the way it operates or how you shift it so it makes sense it wouldn't be in the manual. For all intents and purposes - it's a transfer case, that's it. No need to differentiate in the book because frankly, there is no difference in how you operate it.

There is no reason to address the transfer case as "Rock-Trac" in the owner's manual just as there is no need to address the automatic transmission as "850RFE" or the engine as "3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine with Stop/Start" and so on with all the other parts. All that is necessary for vehicle operation is to know it is a part-time transfer case (which you can tell by the knob), an 8-speed automatic transmission (which you can tell by PRNDL), and a 3.6L gas engine (which you can tell various ways including comparing it to the photos and that a diesel fuel nozzle won't fit into the tank).

It's been this way since forever. The 4.0 HO engine wasn't referred to as HO in the book, it just said 4 liter if so equipped. That's it. I could point to owners manuals going back 70 years - it's the same thing. This isn't new nor unique to Jeep.

There's no need to differentiate in the owner's manual between the Rock Trac and Command Trac... from an operating point of view there is no difference as both are part time transfer cases and function the same. The only difference between them of note is the low range of the RT is 4:1 whereas it is 2.72:1 in the CT.

Making specific mention of Rock Trac and Command Trac in the owner's manual would make about as much sense as having separate mention for Falken and Bridgestone tires.

There is need to clarify If you list it on a window sticker.

For any future people that stumbled upon this Jeep subject or marketing and listing the trigger of a firearm as a “short reset bang switch” on the box or ad but not including that title in the manual and referring to it as simply a trigger, this video on the current subject should help.

First 4 wheel drive vehicle with a shiftable transfer case?
or first Jeep?

The video is simply a transfer case operation and modern traction control. Not special or even specific to Jeep.
