This. The OP hood looks like Jeeps take on a cowl induction hood of sorts vs the typical rubi hood.

The Rubi's always had this hood. There's a slight dip in the front.

Ah yes now I see it. Mine looks like this one.

So the power dome hoods don't have that dip, the "dome" runs all the way out to the front edge.

I'd rather have the plain steel one than the "vented" aluminum one that corrodes and bubbles the paint.

If you're talking about the Sport hood when you say plain, that won't stop your corrosion bubble issues since it's made of the same aluminum as the normal Rubicon hood. AFAIK, up until this recent development where the steel export Rubicon hood started popping up in the domestic market, the only factory steel hood on the JT is the one found on the Mojave.

Oh, I thought one of the others was steel. Maybe I can get the new/EU/Aussie steel hood when the time comes. I'm just not looking forward to new paint or a new hood every few years due to aluminum corrosion.

Isn't that what truck bed paint is for? Covering the corrosion after you sand it? Its a jeep. Maybe they can make some aluminum diamond plate like we use to put on the cj's!

It's a real thing. They have a "performance steel hood package" coming on all of the Rubicon X Wranglers. It's steel - and I can't figure unless it's the same as the MOAB edition hood

I've talked about this at length on the dark side (Wrangler forums) and here with my wife's new Rubicon order. Over on the Wrangler side, they refuse to believe me and claim it's a misprint and actually steel bumpers - but the steel bumper has it's own line item

Back in about 2012-2015, when BMW was pushing the hybrid X6, they had a similar hood, with a raised center. Something about the clearance on a hybrid. When the hybrids didn’t sell as expected, we had a surplus of those hoods. They started offering them as a “performance”hood on the X6M’s.
