Form follows function. Usually, if you're building something for function, the form will end up being cool
I dunno, I've seen some pretty ugly things that got a job done, but could have been made to look a whole lot better at the same time. My home-made engine stand isn't the prettiest thing I ever made, but it will hold an engine while I work on it and not break apart - I should have made it more stable, though.

Thanks to the wide range of available options for Jeeps, I don't think it has to be an either/or situation. Things that are "needed" and have to be functional can also look good. When looking for something that I "need" (or just really want), I definitely take looks into consideration. Most things that are visible are naturally made to look as good as possible or the marketing people would not be doing their jobs.

TBH, I hope most of us are choosing our subjective function over form on a vehicle like this. Sure the form looks good, it's a good looking truck, but we're basically driving a long inefficient brick with horrible MPG. We're willing to do that for high functionality in our respective lives. 👍

Function is my top priority. It needs to serve a purpose. Looks - the product needs to look decent for my tastes but it's not priority, except for headlights where I find many aftermarket LED headlights to look terrible.
Function always before form. However, even if it has a function, if it looks like ass it's not going on my truck.
x100 ^^^

Take anything by Quake LED for example. Nothing they make looks good at all. sure, it works but every product looks like a hackjob. I've gone with Oracle for the headlights and tails but KC for the offroad serious lighting. My final lighting need is rocklights. I do like a little flash so I'm tempted to get RGB rocklights since I do roll in the occasional parade with the club. But bottom line is that it MUST have a purpose. Fancy comes second. Although I got the CMM hillkiller shifter and the matching transfer case handles. Turns out that is a cosmetic add-on. No real world use whatsoever.... Expensive mistake

Function is my top priority as well. ...as long as it does not appear gaudy.
The Look is what the JT was blessed with. I get all kinds of complements!

Function, but I try to make sure it looks like it could pass for stock by a non gladiator enthusiast. My winch and lights on my front bumper don’t look stock, but other than that mine looks like it should have come from the factory. My front bumper is available as stock. The rear bumper isn’t, but it looks pretty close. It’s just 1/4” steel and super strong but has integrated back up lights and bumper steps that double as bed sliders. I looked at so many bumpers and 90% of them look ridiculous. I even kept the stock wheels because I like them and they look surprisingly good with larger, more aggressive tires. Even though it sets 3” higher in the front and an inch higher in the rear and has 2” larger tires than stock, 32s-34s, it looks like it should have come stock.

I keep the form vs function separate.

As long as it’s a functional item I want the best quality performer so don’t care really what it looks like.

On the other side, if something I buy is for form I want that to be the best quality and look the way it should as well.

I’ll do, in my opinion, tasteful stick on stuff for looks to ADD to what I want the Gladiator to look like.

Sometimes changing out a badge or adding a little something something for $18 for “looks” can scratch the itch without spending $1800 for a functional upgrade.

Wench lol.

That would look so clean without those giant tow hooks. I looked at that bumper but it was a sticking point for me so I stayed with the Mopar
style. Otherwise, it could pass for stock, but better looking. I think they call it OEM plus now. I love everything else.
