Best truck of the last fifty years.
I love you guys, but this is laughable. The GMT800 is the peak of 'modern' trucks.
I love you guys, but this is laughable.
GM trucks have been pure trash since the GMT400 platform debuted and that was 38 model years ago now. It would take a reem of paper and a package of ink pens to list all the common problems with those trucks. Electrical issues galore, junk transmissions, junk rear ends, cab mounts that fall apart, interior made by Fisher Price, headlights that go out every 30 days, front diff actuators that fail at the worst times, fuel pumps that die and strand you, paint that won't stick to panels, rust everywhere that can grow rust, on and on and on. Absolute garbage trucks.
I had the misfortune of being stranded by a GM truck 3 times in 3 years. My dumb *** didn't learn from it, so I leased a 2006 Z71 brand new. It went to the shop 12 times in the first 13 months. I got out of the lease early and swore never again. I avoid GM like the plague now.
And apparently they haven't learned still, because Allison transmission just told them last month that GM has until June 2026 to sell all remaining inventory with the Allison brand name on it and then their relationship is done. These other companies are getting sick of GM junk ruining their reputation.
They are all garbage. All manufactures make crap. That is how they sell parts, and more cars. GM has just gone south in so many ways. I had so many Fords go to crap while still under warranty, swithced over to GM in 1990, and have had better luck, but still dealt with issues. Failed distributer on a 94 Impala SS. Luckily it it was still under warranty, and it was no cost to me., and then the rear went south. Again, warranty fixed it. But cars are not a new idea, this crap should get better but instead has gone south.I love you guys, but this is laughable.

I know a guy Name was Claude Burnside from WV worked for Chevrolet for 36 yrs. Wouldn't drive one. HE owned and drove Ford trucks. When ask why He said He knew how crappy they was cause He put them together for 36 yrs. Said He would rather drive one He didn't know any better wether it was a good one or not. They are all garbage. I have had pretty good luck with mine.
Some of my problems with transmission may have been my doing hard to tell . All I do know is it's as reliable as anything else I ever owned.

It’s widely known that the GMT-800s are extremely long lasting trucks. Reliable and cheap to maintain too. The GMT-900s are too if you remove the cylinder deactivation.I love you guys, but this is laughable.

Im almost positive my buddy buys them with 200K miles on purpose at this point. They're broken in by thenIt’s widely known that the GMT-800s are extremely long lasting trucks. Reliable and cheap to maintain too. The GMT-900s are too if you remove the cylinder deactivation.
I see them all the time with 300k+ miles on them and still making it to the work site every day.
I know they rust out up north, but down here in the south high mileage ones are everywhere. Glad we don’t have to deal with rust.Im almost positive my buddy buys them with 200K miles on purpose at this point. They're broken in by then![]()

This is my gladiator at 6 yrs old. I used to take it to the beach and drive on the beach a lot, that’s the only salt it’s seen. It’s still completely rust free.I paint my frame once every year. To some degree . This past summer did the entire thing .
