I see where Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is supposed to be available for Jeeps with a manual transmission. Does anyone have any experience with this feature? Thanks, Jim.

Sorry, no, but it sure sounds very interesting as to how it works!

I can't imagine how ACC should work properly with manual transmisson.

At least unless you have a very light car with a very powerful engine (e.g. Corvette).

It works fantastic. Even when you shift gears it picks right back up to the set speed and keeps whatever distance you set.

As I'm normally running on the highway when at home I set the distance closer---otherwise any guy who slides right in between you and the vehicle you're following will cause the brakes to slam on. Many pricks will still jump in front of me [50% without even a signal]. If that happens twice I just cancel the cruise until I'm out of the traffic.

Down here in the Florida Keys [always spend 4 months here in the winter] Route 1 is normally a conga line during the day so I almost never use either cruise control [adaptive or regular] as those making lefts have to jump across the highway just to get on or off the road. Those making a right also must move quickly when there's a gap.

It sucks when you have these old people who should absolutely not have a license wait to get on the road until they have a mile clear both ways.

Have it in my JT and JL both of which are m/t’s. Works well on the open highway as long as you’re not on steep hills.

Wife has it on her M/T Wrangler, and it works far better than you might expect, even here in the mountains. Obviously you still need to do your part with the gear selection...

I heard for the manual it doesn’t work at speeds below 15 mph. I do have a manual but can’t speak to that feature because I would never want that forward collision warning on my vehicle

Hey Justin, no speed control system works at 15 MPH. Most have a 25MPH minimum. Not sure why you wouldn't want a forward collision warning on your vehicle----even the best of us get distracted and wander on the road a bit. I would just hate to hit a bike rider or walker on the shoulder of the road in a moment of distraction.

Because they can have “false readings” that lock your brakes up thinking something is there, but actually isn’t. So I view this “safety” feature as more dangerous than not having it. Many people excuse distracted driving, but really your eyes should be kept on the road. Yes, I change the radio stations, but my peripheral vision is still seeing what’s in front. To each their own. If you enjoy that feature, by all means enjoy it. I’m just glad it’s not on my truck

First: you can set the forward collision warning to audible warning only; no active braking. Or disable it completely. (This way you still get the auto highbeams)

Second: you can adjust the sensitivity to lessen the chance of any "false" alarms or braking.

Third: Even though I can be a fairly aggressive driver (and face it, you can not drive on 495 or in Boston and survive if you are not), and have the default FCW settings on both the JL and JT, I have never falsely triggered the active braking. I have hit the audible warning more than once, but that is more sensitive than the active braking.

Thanks all for the info. One of the main reasons I use cruise control in the first place is that I have problems with my feet, especially my right foot (broke it in 3 places and never healed up just right). My wife has adaptive cruise control on her Subaru and it works flawlessly, but I just recently got done driving a rental Fiat for a couple weeks in Europe, and it did have a few minor quirks (like slamming on the brakes a couple times on parking garage ramps). The only complaint I've seen so far about Jeep's ACC is that it can over accelerate when changing lanes to pass someone, but I wouldn't think that would be a problem with a manual trans, since it can't automatically downshift to accelerate. Any other thoughts?
