With all due respect.., Are you out of your mind? 🤪 $2200 on sale? I guess you must a lot more disposable income than I do!

First off I have a Bak Flip type cover and I don't want to loose that....I like the weather protection it provides without having a full bed cap. I also have aftermarket beadlocks and 35s, but I do not want to mount under. Right now the spare is in the bed, but I use my bed for bed things.

I was considering a hitch mounted spare carrier like a Wilco or something of that sort, but loosing or having to remount the camera seems less appealing. I have read some shorter rack systems can use Bak Flip type bed covers. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel....maybe I should just mount my spare under in the factory location.....assuming I can...will have to check.

What have you done with your Gladiator and spare situation? Just looking at ideas and thoughts.

Thank you for your input.
I have a 35” on a matched Method beadgrio.
I put it in the stock location where it belongs - out of the way, using space that isn’t used for anything else, and keeping the weight close to the back axle.

I don't understand putting it behind the tailgate for worse weight distribution and making it harder to use the bed, and I don’t get filling the bed with tire. I still want my truck to be a truck, and both those options get in the way of that

After the lift I had some clearance issues with the heat shield, so went this way instead.

Tell you what I see....some great rigs. I am going to try to put the spare back underneath because I have a skid for the receiver.....I don't want to buy more stuff....and aside from personal opinions I like all the options.....I think the rear tire carrier looks good, I think the shorter racks with spare look good. Maybe I like seeing the spare....but in the end...I will put it back in stock location and spend the money elsewhere.

This is what I did with my 40 spare. Works for me. Quick latch and swing it out of the way, adds maybe 5 seconds to opening the tailgate.

Stock location doesn't work for me. It's a pain in the ass to get to. (yes, I have had to use mine). I don't like lying in the middle of who knows what. When you're underneath, mud & crap falls in your face.

I've got the best 315 left over from the last set of tires on my JL on the steel wheel under bed, I have onboard air and top notch repair kits with me as standard equipment. I'm on 39's so spare is a last resort. I should at least put a 37 under there. i think i have one here somewhere,

I had a Wrangler TJ with the heaviest duty bumper tire carrier on the market and I still ended up mounting the spare in the tub. Too much leverage on the frame, among other issues that don't apply to the JT. No way I'd mount a spare on the back bumper of a gladiator.

Need a spare and need to use the bed? Mount underneath. Add a hitch skid if you want some safety room for obstacles. I fit a 37" STT Pro under my bed with a RockJock straight track bar for a couple years.

Otherwise I know this isn't an option for you since you want weather protection but for others that might come across this thread, I just mount mine high with the spare tire winch from under the bed. Can still haul lumber and whatnot. This is a 40 and no reason it couldn't be a 42 or larger

Damn - thats a good idea. I may steal that when I add my rack...
