After I noticed that it was leaking and under enough pressure to almost explode, it’s time for a change. Really like the metal Jerry cans but haven’t found one that mounts in the bed. Well there was one, but it mounts in the spot I’m using behind the driver’s side wheel well and I’ve got a toolbox there. Any recommendations?

Keep your roto pak slightly vented. That's what i have to do for the full jugs for my dirt bikes.

My recommendation if you go with metal is only real NATO type ones, or Septer if polymer type for longevity and reliability. I didn't quite get it with the Gucci gas cans, I do have several off brand ones I got for my 4 wheelers as I only use straight gasoline in them. The US design starts to rust first time used, I had 3 of them because that type fit my XJ rear bumper mounts.
I thought about picking up a marine gas tank to haul in bed with a fuel pump to move into tank as needed. That was until everyone got ridiculous on pricing fuel cans and tanks.

Any fuel container will need to be vented or you'll have to manually release pressure often. It has nothing to do with it being a Rotopax. Any changes in elevation it's even more important to ensure your can is vented or you release pressure, and more frequently than normal.

I had one Roto Pax on the back of my JK stored vertically, so I kept the cap loosened slightly so that a certain amount of pressure could blow by. The can still swelled some, but there was usually a very slight fuel residue around the neck from it bleeding off, which was acceptable loss to me.

We all got in the habit of every time we stopped for gas we just released the pressure on our cans while filling up. Most of us had one can on board. No big deal.

Unless you stored them laying flat. That makes it annoyed

Yep, they swell from agitation, and they collpase from low temperature. And atmo pressure effects them both ways.

I have two 5gal cans in my garage that aren't vented. They are so deformed from swelling and collapsing that I can maybe get 3 gallons in them now. I really sure replace them with a vented can, but I'm lazy.

You will have the same problem with metal cans or any unvented fuel can. The temperature goes up, the pressure changes, you change altitude and the can will expand or contract. I have four NATO jerry cans and have to open them at mid-day to vent the gas or I can't take them out of their holder. The only difference is that Rotopax are held through the middle where the expansion is the most pronounced.

I have two wavian Jerry cans for my diesel. No leaks no drips no burping them. Not sure if you are a gasser or diesel. But I bought two black spouts off of eBay and the work flawlessly. 10 gallons in less than 10 minutes.

Didn’t see your post before I did mine. I’d also highly recommend their caps and spouts. I love not needing to store spouts inside the gas.

I like this but wish it were available for the Driver side since I already have items mounted to the passenger side and for ease of fill up already being on the driver side. Shame.
