Campone Cantilever Canopy Tent? Anyone seen this design before?

EDIT: The answer was in the fine details. I tossed the images into Gemini and asked to try and find product info, and it pointed out that Motop was mentioned in the install instructions. After looking through Motop bookface the truck in the photos is one of theirs, and the demo tent this dude says he has is the same type an a Motop tent. This particular design I'm looking for is not on their website though, so I've reached out to Motop to see if this is theirs, if it's an old design or unreleased, or if maybe they sold it to this dude.


This popped up in my bookface feed. I'm trying to see if theres any history on these as another brand or supplier with reviews.

I was able to find a couple different posts from this guy from over the past year that make it sound like he is trying to start up something to sell these, but doesn't have a website or anything yet. I reached out to him and received replies and a few more photos of a wedge style demo he has, and while he answered most of my questions he didn't go into detail and replies were short. What I do know is these are made overseas, but I'm not sure if they are a one-off design specifically for this dude. Unplug Outdoor Co had something similar but used a Smartcap knockoff cap as the base and then cut it open and built heir own tent into it, and they appear to be going out of business and have been ghosting customers anyways. Otherwise I can't find anywhere else that this particular design is used. Hoping someone on the forums has seen this particular design before.

This design would be perfect for me. Same overall height as the cab so I could fit in the garage, and it looks like I would maintain the same amount of interior truck bed height as my Rebel half rack.

I'm really hoping this dude is setting up a USA retailer for Motop. If it is a new product it would explain why it isn't on the Motop website yet, which would also coincide with this guy saying he is working on getting it onto a website.

He did give me a price of $5980. A great price IMO considering what GoFast, Lonepeak, etc. go for.

Agreed! After reading your post I did a big search and stumbled upon a recent Facebook post with the same images, but then closed the browser on accident Sounds like it is in the works.

$6K makes it very compelling if it isn't vaporware.

I was impressed it says install with four people or a lift up machine. A lift up machine sounds better than a roof top tent.

Update on this:

He has posted some more photos in a few Facebook pages of a demo model now on his truck. I spoke with him last night on the phone, he owns a international insulation and building materials business and is looking to sell these as a side gig. Website is almost finished and should be available in July. He has a handful (9 I think he said) for the Gladiator in stock, and has shipments for Tacoma, Tundra, and Frontier arriving over the next couple months. He has a few folks that is he talking to about being distributors, and I might be picking one up as a demo to review. I would get it at a demo price, so still paying for it just not full price, so I'm trying to decide if I want to jump on this right now or wait until this fall.

I have a week long trip coming end of the month, would be a time crunch to get to SC and get it installed before the trip, but it would be a great opportunity to really test it out.

I personally like the aesthetics of the Unplug version when folded away, in travel mode. This one looks more functional with the full cap. Probably be a better design to keep the water out when travelling. Plus the sleeping area will be bigger, wider.

I originally reached out via facebook, but yes you can call the number that was posted earlier. Let him know you saw this post from me, Wes. I think he is worried that I am trying to get one just to resell it for more, but that is definitely not the case. Maybe if he sees I'm already getting more eyes on his product before I even have one, it'll ease his mind a little.

Ordered! I ended up paying for shipping because it was cheaper than me driving to SC and I just don't have time to make the trip for a while. Hoping it arrives before out trip to Wyoming end of the month. Once I get it, I'll be posting up a unboxing, mounting, and initial thoughts review, as well as a review after our trip it it arrives in time.
