The parts in the video do fail. But my thought is ,,, if it ain't broke , don't fix it. Many parts will go 200K. What about wheel bearings and ball joints.

Helpful video by Jerry at Shift Automotive and Brad at TrailRecon.

Great video, and he´s got some good insight, but this guy ain´t Nostradamus. He owns a shop, and he´d love to replace shocks every time you come in, even at 30,000 miles.

He claims every Gladiator frame is failing because of towing and that´s just not true. Stay off the bump stops, for one thing. Proper springs for the load and proper tongue weight and trailer balance are critical....for ANY tow vehicle. He didn´t mention that, at all. Hmmm. Happens to sell a weld-on truss for the frame. No conflict of interest there in telling people if they tow their frame will fail. Lol.

I´ve got 111,000 miles on my JL´s Fox shocks with LOTS of off-roading, including 4 brutal trips to Moab. No leaks, no degradation of performance. Hell, the Tenneco shocks on my 08 JK Rubi had 110,000 on them and were still good when I upgraded. I´ve seen plenty of failures with crappy brands, but not with the good ones. I replace them when they no longer control rebound or if they leak.

And not every Pentastar gets new cams at 100k. I´ve seen plenty with over 200k and no issue.

The oil cooler? Yep, LOTS of failures. But I´ve seen LOTS of those go 200k+ without failing. Again, my JL has 112k, and it´s dry as a bone.

I believe Mopar has a new part number for that oil cooler, too, that addresses the problem. He didn´t mention that. I´m curious as to why.

If I had a mechanic like him, I´d be happy, but I´d tell him what to do. If I sent my daughter to him with my Jeep, I think I´d wind up with a $3,000 bill and he´d say, ¨Oh, that´s not that expensive.¨

LOL, I checked the brake rotors on my 112k JL this morning....no cracking.

Bet that guy does pretty well for himself. And I love Brad, but he´s got YouTube money to throw at these things.

Thanks for watching this, the moment I saw it I made some assumptions which you just confirmed.

Here's a real list of items you are guaranteed to have to replace by 100k miles:
- Tires
That's it. Everything else comes down to how you use the Jeep, how you maintain it, and luck of the draw.

Typical clickbait blowing things out of proportion.

The topic is parts replacement, not general upkeep/maintenance.
Are tires parts? Wouldn't then brakes fall under parts?

You must be a blast at parties. The point he is trying to make is that the video is blowing things out of proportion, when you get lost in the weeds it makes it hard for people trying to learn from this forum to actually learn.

Retired. Beach bum.
Ok very informative video. The best idea as far as the Dorman oil cooler is concerned, if it’s not leaking don’t touch it! But when the time comes to change the plugs, or fix camshaft/lifter, or any time the intake manifold need to be removed? That’s the best time to deal with it, because most of the labor is done already and just about another hour should do, but there’s a list other things like coolant flush and replacement. But all done at once you should be good for another 100k! Because the bottom end is fine.

That mechanic is also the same guy that said the fix for death wobble is a steering stabilizer.
