Question for fun, really. I don't have to do anything at all about this.

I have a 2015 Camaro SS - all the options you could get in 2015 except for Recaro seats. 54,000 miles on it. Super nice car, all stock except for stuff like wheel spacers, intake, and exhaust. I don't use it a lot. Actually, I left it with my mom a few weeks ago when her ride was having issues so she could lean on it if needed so that someone would drive it. I tend to need a truck or SUV, or even a four door sedan. It doesn't benefit me to commute in it, it gets better MPG than the truck but uses premium, so it breaks out about the same cost wise. I don't do 'car stuff' with it. I also don't need to get rid of it. It is *existing* just fine in its current capacity. It's well taken care of and someone eventually drives it somewhere.

But lets say I sold it, and bought something else. Selling it and spending the money on another use case isn't an option you can pick. We want a spare / extra vehicle.

What would you buy with the $20K-25K that it's worth? I'll only give one requirement - it should seat four or more people.

If you don't drive the camaro, can't imagine you'd drive a replacement, so I'd just bank the cash and save it for a rainy day.

We wouldn't use it a ton, but we've grown accustomed to having that fall back vehicle. I consider it more convenient to pay insurance on an extra ride then have to deal with surprise break downs quickly in a primary vehicle. The spare has always given us the ability to get the dead vehicle somewhere and deal with it at our convenience. Or the good ole 'I need a puller to get the drag link off my Jeep and now the Jeep is apart and the ole lady is at work' routine. Take the spare 🤣

So we have considered replacing the Camaro with a sedan so we can reap the benefits of four doors and more commute esque fuel mileage, or another 'enthusiast' SUV that can fill a wider variety of use cases, for example.

I’d say something like a used Tahoe or a Durango. They’re useful, comfortable as all hell, you already have a 3.6 so you know the ins and outs there. Tahoe has had a pretty decent engine over the years. All that plus you live in Louisiana and need a vehicle that can take those road conditions and survive.

One's a pavement pounder, the other's built for trails but both put a smile on your face

That's kind of like asking what kind of underwear to buy, it's way too personal for anyone to answer for you.

For what it's worth, I'd probably get as much Lexus ES350 as I could. I already have my truck for recreation, hauling, and work; going fast isn't for me either, I have motorcycles for that. At this point I want something I will just leave stock and be comfortable with a reasonable amount of economy and reliability.

I'd buy $25k of puts on SPCX. I love Space X, but it is insanely overvalued, and it's going to drop in price sooner rather than later.

This is not investment advice. I am a moron and have lost more than I've made.
Not thread related but I hit 100% today backtesting a trade strategy. 30 for 30 WIN!!! 🕺

Actually thats the kind of cool input Im looking for. I would have never looked up an ES 350 otherwise. Is there something in particular you like about those?

The ole lady is enrolled back in school for some pre reqs and next year will be making a 3hr round trip ride to school two days a week for some RN classes so whatever we have (Camaro, etc) I am sure she will be driving some for that.

Id entertain a Durango. I worked on one a few years ago and had to test drive it afterward. Really nice. I would entertain this, but it would maybe have to be a Hemi one 🤔 TBD.

Used Lexus is 500
The 500s seem to be out of the price range but I didnt look hard.

Lexus could be a thing if we went the sedan direction 🤔 They look nice.
