Old thread, I realize, but I just yesterday happened upon the Acela JT on the interwebs (name has been changed from “Dispatcher” to “Breacher”). In case anyone’s interested, this answers the question of whether and when the vehicle will be available for purchase by civilians. (Spoiler alert: now).

That GVWR explanation is going to make some folks lose their mind on here...

Also, I love that AEV has partnered. I have their HD springs on my rig and they handle the weight really well and still ride great.

It's cool that the bed is larger, but being a unique bed size there's probably not much on the market, if anything, that will fit this properly in the way of racks, flatbed and canopies, etc., and the market is probably going to be so small they won't invest in a product line for it.

Dan Grec (“The Road Chose Me”), who made that video with the head of Acela that I posted above, has been touting the Breacher lately on YouTube, Reddit, etc. In one recent Reddit (r/overlanding) he (pretty sure it’s him: his handle is “grecy”) noted: “Every camper manufacturer in the Overland space has plans in the works for a dedicated camper for this platform (AT Overland, OEV, 4 wheel campers, etc. etc.) , and any normal person can order a Breacher from a Jeep dealer with the aluminum tray or completely bare as a cab-chassis so you can build whatever you want on there.”

My biggest complaint about that video is they don't tell you which dealership you can order from. Why would you keep that a secret from your audience when you're trying to sell them?

Can't wait to see all the "make it a two door and I'm in crowd" run out and buy one.

Should be about 27,000 on the road by Friday if social media comments are any gauge.
Jokes on you, JR. I already ordered three: one with a 392, another with an VW TDI and just to piss off the purists, a 4XE.

Honestly, I would order one if it came with the diesel. I'm in the process of ordering a John Deere 875R diesel Gator, and that's probably going to cost about $45,000. From that perspective, the 2-door Jeep with flatbed is financially doable.

I wouldn’t even put a camper on this setup. This would be a killer ranch type truck. Too many pieces of gear I’d rather have in the cab on a trail for me to totally give up the current JT 4 door cab. I’d rock this one for supply runs or doing truck stuff with. Maybe a basic lift and 35” just in case that wild hair shows up and it decides it needs to eat some dirt but for the most part, it’d be a workhorse. Probably one of the coolest workhorses out there, in my opinion.

The good news is - it seems the Alibaba manufacturers are very willing to accommodate on a one off basis. I saw a video recently where a fella had one of those Chinese companies tailor one of their canopy camper style campers to his custom flat bed tray he made for his Toyota. Worked with them on dimensions and they built it. It seemed overall it went pretty decent for him.

Retired. Finally !!
I know I'm odd man out, but I'm simply not a fan of the industrial work bed. I'm a civilian with a POV (Privately Owned Vehicle for the non-military), not a company work truck. It's not like I'm rambling down fire roads working on power lines. I'm not hauling dozens of cinder block and bags of concrete daily to a job site. If they created the same truck with a color matching fleet-side or even step-side bed, well, that'd be different.

Now if you have a farm, or even easier, a purposeful reason for an industrial bed, then this Jeep is for you. Not me.

To own a vehicle made for industrial purposes when you're not in industry, makes as much sense as buying a 4 wheel drive vehicle and putting low profile street tires on it. Why ? But yes, I've seen this. Low profiles, spare pulled off the back (on Wranglers), lowering kit. But it still has 4 wheel drive. I'm lost.

But, like I've said my entire life; your Jeep, your rules.

Agreed. I've been looking at buying a regular cab Ram 1500 so that I could put a flatbed on it. I'd buy the Jeep if it had the diesel.

Jeep Gladiator Uhhh...Acela Trucks just launched a 2-door Jeep Comanche on a Gladiator!! ObNiUgo
