Mine came from the factory with Gorilla Glass. I bought it with a Fuyao branded one at 29xxx miles. Guess the previous owner heard the GG is BS, too.

I have windshield coverage via State Farm. If I call them with a chip they send a tech out to fill it. If it can't be filled or cracks and needs to be replaced I pay $150 deductible. I've done multiples on the BMW, her Bronquito and will probably do one on the Jeep either during or immediately after winter.
The problem with getting your insurance involved is it a claim just like a fender bender with state farm.

I agree and if possible don't even report it to those bastards.
Not if your insurance agent has your coverage setup properly. I carry coverage well in excess of state minimums for a number of reasons, this is one of them.

Comprehensive no-fault claims like windshield repairs, break ins, deer strikes, etc don't count against my premium. A fender bender is an at-fault for someone, either you or the other guy. State Farm client for (with the exception of maybe 4-5 years) 30+ years.

I have state farm, and when my last gladiator had a rock hit, it grew rapidly into a long crack, the insurance company paid for a factory windshield. I paid the glass company 100 bucks.
My new Gladiator came with Gorilla Glass as a part of a package, I think. I always assumed it was just BS sales crap anyways, and this thread proves it.

I think everyone here knows that Gladiators and Wranglers love to play catch-the-rock with the windshield, which ultimately results in cracked windshields. I just got my 2025 Gladiator Sport in November 2025 and I already have 4 cracks on my windshield. I’m surprised I haven’t been arrested for possession of crack (okay, bad joke). Seriously, I’ve heard of gorilla glass windshields. Does anyone have any experience with it on their Jeeps? How does it affect performance, if at all? Does it resist rocks? Finally, is it worth the investment?
This is an issue that has been addressed on this and other forums many times. Within one week of ownership of my Jeep with gorilla glass (GG) I had a nick that I fixed with an OTC kit. In my opinion it’s no better than regular shatter proof glass; I would go so far as to say again, in my opinion, it’s a scam. It is touted as a more robust shatter proof glass but it’s no better than a cheaper shatter proof glass. So, don’t waste your money, you can replace your glass several times over with regular shatter proof glass for the cost of one $2k + GG replacement. Sorry about all the nicks, but that’s the nature of Jeep, they are rock catchers. It’s best just to minimize as much as you can with OTC fixes and just replace when you have to or feel the need (or the state patrol says you need to!😏). Happy Jeeping!

I've had countless, literally, replacement windshields in the 3.5 years I've had my '23. In Arizona, windshield coverage is required to be included in the policy. (rocks fly, here) Progressive has always covered with no deductible & no premium spikes. Until the last replacement, after returning from a 4 month journey to Alaska, they would pay for the Jeep factory windshield. Which I liked because of the cute jeep climbing up the inside right corner. So this last time they would only pay for aftermarket, so no cute Jeep crawler. However, this one has lasted, so far, nearly an entire year without even a ding. Is it a better quality than OEM? Who knows, but I've never been more than a 6 months without a replacement and 1 time it was only 1 week between new windshields.

Good job avoiding those “flocking rocks”. I think they wait for a Jeep to appear before coming out of hiding and taking to flight. Happy Jeeping!

I've noticed the Gorilla Glass on this truck seems to pit from the sand/dust storms we get here faster than the standard windshield on my '14 JKUR.

The ceramic coating on the paint has withstood the sand blasting we get during monsoon season very well. Maybe I should have had them ceramic coat the windshield. lol

Do all you guys drive in a rock quarry? Never had any issues with any windshield on any vehicle I ever owned. My current jeep came with gorilla glass. No issues so far.
I live and off road in the desert. By definition a rock quarry. But it’s not off-roading that cost windshields it’s just driving around in any place that has trucks and 18 wheelers with those cheap ass rock grabbing retreads…

YES! But not just here. It was just as bad in the east coast where they use sand in the roads in the winter. Did I mention GG is the worst?!?!?!?

Good point. I’ve inquired about additional protection for my windshield from my local detail shop that installed PPF on my Rubi. They said they can do the windshield but of course with wiper use and environmental gotchas constantly hitting the windshield, the PPF would probably have to be replaced every couple of years if not sooner. I quickly did the math and determined that just replacing the windshield when needed was the more prudent financial option.

Safelite told me there is a class action suit. The hit I took recently on Gorilla glass had to be seen to be believed. It cracked the whole dang window massively. I had never seen a windshield sustain that much instant damage.

Definitely depends on where you live. 30K miles and 5 years in East TN not even a chip. 1 month and 1,000 miles after moving to NM a chip that I filled and then a full crack. Windshield place here said just put in the aftermarket for $250 out the door as many times as it takes and move on with life. I took their advice.

It is just all to do with luck. If you get hit with a nice round pebble you might be okay. If it is a small piece of decomposed granite from the landscaping trailer in front of you......that will be an instant crack! I have the permaplate window insurance and they definitely loose money on me. I have had my 24 windshield replaced once. It is the Gorilla glass version with the antenna . Safelite charged them 1500.00. no deductible. When the policy is up I will not be replacing it with Gorilla glass. I will also use one of the independent glass shops by me. All that being said....I have had better luck with the GG but I wouldn't spend the extra$. FYI, I had the windshield replace 5 times in my 21. I do a lot of highway driving.

Not in a rock quarry, but in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, we have lots of caleche roads (gravel). This means rocks get in the threads of tires and come out once the vehicles are on the highways. If you don’t get hit by one of those rocks, they will generally land on the roadway to be picked up and thrown by the tires of other vehicles.

Now, that’s funny as hell!
