My biggest struggle is heated seats and a heated steering wheel but I want manual locks, manual mirrors and manual windows.
I hear you on the cold weather package - I have had thoughts about going with Katzkins leather and their Degree seat cooler/heaters to a) save a little $$ and b) get chilled seats in the summer, but the thought of having a heated steering wheel on 40* mornings when I drive topless is pretty tempting.

I’ll probably go katzkins because chilled seats on 110* days sounds amazeballs, and I can buy a lot of gloves with the ~$1000 I’d save.

I have a Grand Cherokee, or should I say had a GC. My wife had me sell her Mercedes and she now drives the GC (She’s always been a Jeep girl).
We both agree that the heated seats and particularly the heated steering wheel will definitely be on my re-lacement vehicle.

I never thought of the snow on headlights not melting issue.....Do HID heat up more? lol, get the LED package just so you have a more correct LED/HID projector housing so you can do an HID conversion later to melt the snow? Man this is pricey.

For anybody confused on this, normal reflector housings for halogen bulbs don't work well with LED/HID lights and ends up blinding oncoming traffic. From what I read, you need projector housings to cope with this.

Do the JT stock lights have reflector or projector housings?

EDIT: Crap, i read on the specs page that the LED package comes with LED reflector lights.....never heard of these before. Probably some special bulbs you need and the HID conversion thing wont work. FAIL JEEP

LEDs are more efficient because they do not waste energy creating heat, therefore snow is an issue. My suggestion if you want the upgrade is to get a light bar with some cheap halogen driving lamps. They will burn plenty hot for the twice a year you drive through a snow storm, and you won't need to turn them on for the rest of the year. Jeep is cool and will set you up with aux wiring and switches to make installation easy. Don't get an LED light bar because that will have the same issue in the cold.

Retrofitting halogen housings with LED or HID is bad because LEDs have a single point of light transmittance as opposed to more of an area of glow. LED reflectors are nice because the reflector focuses the light to make it appear brighter and keep it out of oncoming drivers' faces. The reflector must be designed for one or the other else light will scatter too much and blind other drivers.

Thanks Jeepers. For now that’s good to see. I see that it’s for a bed that’s 5’7” long and it sells for $1010.00 So for the Gladiator with a 5’ long bed it should be priced in that ball park. Really need to find out if I must have the Jeep trail rail system in order to mount the Jeep/Mopar hard trifold tonneau cover and to confirm that a dealership really will be able to order the trail rail system for a Sport model. The build site does not show that you can get the trail rail system on a Sport model but I have an email from a guy at Jeep telling me that it would be available for all trim levels. Will find out early next month if he was correct once dealers can place orders. If not then it should not be such a big problem as other aftermarket companies should be able to come up with such covers that can attach without the trail rail system. Or at least I hope they can. One such company told me just yesterday that they think it’s possible. Anyway thanks again. Much appreciated.
A word of caution. With the JL folks ordered the trail rail management system right out of the gate. It delayed their orders for months while other orders passed them by. If it's something you can order later you may not want to load up on the Mopar parts.

To reach the payload capacity of a Rubicon it would take 24 sheets of standard 5/8" plywood.

That's what, a 15" stack? That doesn't even come to the top of the bed rails.

Gotta' get that Max Tow package. It's a must have. ;)

That's what I get stuck on every time towing and payload. If I get this truck I intend on keeping it for life so I really want all the bells and whistles. The sport s has the best tow and payload but you get cut short on the things you can add on it. Overland gets alot of bells and whistles but payload and towing Is completely killed. Leaning more towards a Rubicon every day because you get at least 7,000 towing if equipped right and everything add on wize in the book if you want. I can always make two trips for plywood need be ;)

I was thinking about that today. Seems like various options delayed JL orders for a while, with the trail rail being the most egregious. LED packages and soft tops also caused some delays IIRC.

Great advise ThirtyOne. I hadn’t thought about that being a possible issue. I’ve checked into prices for hard trifold tonneau covers with several aftermarket companies and they all sell them at reasonable prices. Just need to have Jeep/Mopar list the price for their hard trifold cover. And it would really be great to actually see pictures of the Jeep/Mopar cover, I mean really good, up close detailed pictures. I’d like to see just how weather (water) proof they may or may not be. The aftermarket ones I have seen all seem to have properly dealt with keeping them fairly water tight. The bed will be my trunk and I’d like to keep things dry if possible. Problem right now is most aftermarket companies have not laid their eyes on the truck so they don’t know if their covers will work or if they will have to design them for this truck or how long that will take or what they will cost. For certain I will ask my dealer to check and confirm if this will delay the order and I of course will try to get some good pictures of the Jeep/Mopar one in advance.

In case anyone is interested, at some shows trucks on display had signs showing what equipment the displayed trucks had on them and some signs showed that the trucks had the hard trifold tonneau cover on them. And those covers were not on the trucks. Really unbelievable. I tried to get Mopar to answer questions and they don’t respond at all. Anyway thanks again ThirtyOne. Much appreciated.

Is the beer window power-slide? I don't think I've heard one way or the other.
I read 3 additional pages of comments JUST to see if anyone would comment on the “beer window”. What a fantastic auto-correct! Or, was it more of a Freudian slip?

Anyways, to be on topic, I’m about to go research these Katzkin cooled seats... but If I could order the perfect Gladiator out of the gate, it would be a Gobi Rubicon, half doors, max tow package, soft top, diesel, 8.4” screen, and a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Since Jeep won’t build that, I will likely order a white Rubicon with tow. I may go with a Sport S with Tow, cold weather, 7” touch screen, rear LSD, tan interior, and tan premium soft top.

OK I Just got a good look at a black Rubicon Gladiator at the KC show, and have pretty much decided I am not a fan of the red stitching all over everything. Can anyone explain the options, if any to have something less annoying (to me) for the Rubicon?
