Insurance costs have a lot more to do with vehicle safety than with vehicle cost. My $130k SVR cost less to insure than my old convertible two seater that cost 1/3 as much.
Insurance companies are considering how many people you're likely to kill or send to the hospital in case of a crash. Replacing a $60k truck is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands in medical bills ... And unfortunately Jeeps are pretty good murder wagons (M and P rating on wrangler JK is the latest available to NIHS and it's pretty bad for side impact). I can't imagine the safety ratings of the JT is much better than the JK was.
Add to that the fact that the JT is brand new and no data is available, they're going to err on the side of caution and charge more of it.
Heck Teslas are supposedly the safest cars and for the first few years they were super expensive to insure due to lack of data.

So yeah, drive safely and help reduce the fatality numbers :)

Geico gave me a quote at 102, but this included their extended warranty price. I think it was 9 bucks a month for that and they said it cover the big stuff like transmission and engine. I'm not sure if thats a good idea, but it is a jeep and its new....

You should shop insurance every 3-4 years, as the business model is to incrementally raise rates for all policyholders on the assumption that inertia will prevent most folks from switching. I was with Geico for over 20 years with no claims but regular increases, and was pleasantly surprised that switching companies I saved $600/year.

It doesn’t really matter which company you switch to, as almost all of them offer their best rates for new customers.

Keep in mind that companies that advertise on TV have higher overhead that’s passed on to policyholders. I’m currently with Farm Bureau and I don’t recall ever seeing an advertisement for them.

Did you get that quote on the internet?

Finally got a VIN, updated it in Progressive...added gap insurance. Brings me to a whooping $299 for 6 months ($49.83/month).

For the record, I'm 42, clean driving record, top-tier credit score and live in VT. Glad I decided to compare rates, as GEICO would have got triple that out of me! Like someone mentioned above, seems like insurance companies just bank on the fact that you're not going to change?

Wranglers are expensive to insure. Our 05 TJ cost more to insure than the other 4 vehicles we have COMBINED.
Also keep in mind a Gladiator will likely be more expensive than a comparable truck, at least at first, because there is no accident history or safety history to base rates off of. Although if I remember correctly, JL's don't have all that great of a safety rating, and I cant see the JT being much different except in rollover stability tests. The rest should be identical or comparable to the JL.
AND,
there arent any aftermarket body parts available for it yet, so any accident repairs will be more expensive.

That's odd. My 2017 JKU was $5 less a month to insure than my 2015 Golf TDI. Granted, I did combine my Jeep/Homeowners Insurance as I bought a house around the same time as my JKU.

I entered my VIN > If you don't have one, just borrow one from a dealership's website or someone's listed on one of the tracking threads.

I agree with the folks that you should definitely shop around, I was with Geico for a while and now Progressive gave me the best rates after I checked for quotes from the 5 biggest insurance companies, and I plan on switching to Progressive next week with my new LE. Unless of course my LE doesn't get delivered next week LOL

Yeah I’m getting ready to give Geico the big “FO”...

- customer for years
- good clean driving record
- no claims (except 1 roadside tow)
- multi car discount
- bundle with homeowners
- almost 50 y/o (sigh)

And they just quoted me:

- Gladiator = $1,998 annually ($160/mo)...wow

AND

- 17 year old daughter = $2,600 annually (12 year old car worth $3K)...WTF????

Plus they just let me know their current carrier won’t renew my homeowners (they say proximity to CA wildfires) and quoted me 2x on a new homeowners policy.

Complete b.s.

Goodbye Geico.

It is best to shop around. Once you are with a Company a while they tend to jack up the rates and do so every year.

I just switched to Liberty Mutual

2019 JLUR
2019 RAM Big Horn Crew

$133 a month, paid for a full year at once so I received a 10% discount off of that.

I also get Mopar parts, towing, accident forgiveness, and new car replacement. 2 adult drivers on plan.

Geico was about $30 a month cheaper but did not have new car replacement and their customer service stunk. Based on that Liberty Mutual shined in both areas.
