@BuiltRight , am i reading this right. if I have a 60" 1/8" walled, 1.5x3 with 100 lbs on it, it'll deflect 1.7"? Damn, need supports in the middle then to lower length to only 30", or maybe up this to 2"x2"?

.........i give up, which guy do you trust with your money?
If I'm a plywood guy, I trust the king of plywood, which I do. You said driving up to the client is important, so I posed that question...

At a very quick glance, I'm guessing this is showing you an unsupported beam bending, in which case, 1.7" seems quite reasonable.

To verify, I simulated the same beam with a 100lb Gladiator Multitool on the end. This shows 49mm of deflection, which is roughly 1.9". The difference is probably a matter of aluminum alloy selection.

Moving the JT to the center of the beam and supporting both ends yields a much different deformation. The deformation scale here is around 180x and aside from being a much smaller deformation (around 1mm), it also looks like much more fun. Bottom line - that tube should be plenty stout.

That's a beefy Gladiator Multi-tool...prototype of the giant wall art version? ;)

OHHHH, so that 1.7" was with one end supported, the other hanging out there.... Yeah my concern i think was depicted in your 2nd photo with 100lbs weight in the middle. So the deflection for that is only about 1mm? Sweet, wish i stayed in engineering longer than i did.

Yea, obviously super rough numbers, but it's believable. That's really beefy material.

Oh, I completely understand. I'll have to test it out of course but this gives my brain a track to run with.

@Ole Cowboy, so screwed. Going to need a cargo rack and topper for sure, lmao.

Packed for a 3 day U. P. trip.

Looks like you and the wife will be well-fueled up too with your boxed wine and a case of Coors :) Priorities, right?;)

This guy looks to be doing it right too. Sure looks like a mini keg of beer strapped to his rack!

I think that's a propane cylinder, but I'm sure the Yeti cooler is full of beer .

Good eye on the box wine, FYI BOTA box is way better than black box.

My only worry is that you have so much packed in there that you might drive off and forget the kids cause there was no room for them...

Luckily I got snipped so we don't need the third row.

you probably can turn front on whenever with one of those obd2 "Tazer" things.
You are correct. It also adds button shortcuts. I can tap mute twice while driving and it brings up the rear camera and I can tap on the front camera icon. Super useful when parking!!
