Jeep does a horrible job detailing the difference between the 7” and 8.4” radio groups.
I didn’t realize the 7” doesn’t have Off-road Pages or the auto-dimming rear view mirror. Also the “acoustic windshield, whatever that is
I’m not worried about the speaker difference but I’m curious if anyone regrets getting or not getting the 8.4 radio for the additional $.

I have the 7" and couldn't justify the price to the 8.4". - Just had a loaner car with the 8.4" in it...there is no doubt it is nicer, but at $1500 it is hard to justify. I am just hoping to pick up a swap later something at a bit better price point.

Looks like the differences are navigation, HD Radio, drag and drop menu bar, and Sirius Travel Link and SiriusXM Traffic Plus. It's not entirely clear whether you also have to go 8.4" to get the Off Road Pages, but it appears the answer is yes.

I don't regret getting it. I know myself and I know I'm not going to mess around with stereo stuff in the aftermarket, though. I really just don't want to mess with it very much.

Yeah on the JL they call the 7" screen the "Technology Package". And, it's $1k for the option. But guess what? You don't get any technology. No offroad pages. No NAV. No Sirius premium features. No HD radio. No owners manual built in. No text by voice. Nothing.

After I realized that, it kind of made me angry. What a rip-off that package is.

Just FYI, on a Sport S the Off-Road info appears on the driver's screen. Maybe not as much info as the 8.4, dunno.

I'm very frustrated with the cost of the 7" plus the stereo upgrade on the Sport S. These forced upgrades help lead me to consider other makes, Jeep! It could be that by the time the color JT I want is released that much more Bronco info is available. Just sayin'.

This appears to be an intentional omission or ambiguity. The manual itself is inconsistent re off-road pages--says "your vehicle is equipped" and then "if equipped" like something was taken out. They should have been more clear. But noting that forward cam requires off-road pages, and 8.4 is required for fwd cam, it appears you are correct that 8.4 is required for off-road pages.

So what we are saying here is, if you order a Rubicon and DON'T upgrade to the 8.4" option, you DON'T have the off-road pages? That just doesn't seem right, that should be part of the Rubicon Pkg. regardless of the screen size.

I am not pining for the 8.4" radio and am fine with the 7" one I have. My only requirement is to support Android Auto and use of Waze. I could care less about the dedicated NAV with the 8.4" radio and in the rare instance I may not have cell coverage for my Waze app, I have a portable Garmin on standby in the console.

I’m in agreement. The 7” is fine for me. I just wish Jeep had better descriptions on the configurator. I didn’t realize the 8.4 is needed to get off road pages and auto dimming mirror. Not deal breakers, but it does add more value to the premium radio group package.

FCA's launch of the Gladiator has been a borderline boondoggle in many ways and has not been their best effort. Between what they showed at the revealings and what actually came in the vehicle when production and delivery began has been disappointing on a few things.

I have the 7" radio and it did come with the acoustic windshield (pretty sure they all do at this point). I only know that because I just got a crack and have to replace. It is supposedly road noise quieter but not sure that anyone would attest to that LOL :)

I wish they had the 12" one like on the Rams. I guess it wouldn't fit though.
This for sure. The 8.4" is a great size, but the 12" is very modern and in line with the times. The 7" seems so old school. Yes, manufacturers make it modern by adding Car Play/Android Auto to it, but aside from that it's just medium sized tablet.
