I'm coming up on 10,000 miles on my Pacifica which has closely the same engine as the JT. So i'll use this info for both my JT and Pacifica.

Jeep.com has 3 oil change and tire rotation packages for $99 for synthetic blend or $155 for full synthetic.

1. Does anybody know if the JT is on, or supposed to be on full synthetic?
2. Do Mopar dealers use good synthetic oil?
3. If you do it yourself, what documentation do you need to keep to prove to FCA that it was done regularly and on time to avoid any warranty issue down the road. (And don't tell me that its FCAs job to prove I neglected the motor, even if that's technically true)

1. I don't believe 0W-20 comes in anything but synthetic.

2. I'm sure there are shady dealers who use crap oil so there is no guarantee unless you provide it yourself.

3. Keeping your receipts should be enough. That said, in the last couple manuals I've read, it explicitly stated that your warranty couldn't be voided just due to lack of receipts.

I haven't looked and it only matters for the first two years, but doesn't the Gladiator qualify for the Jeep Wave program? I would be surprised if it didn't.

I will try and get more definitive answers tomorrow morning.

I first learned about it when I bought my trackhawk, but my dealer won't drain the oil cooler as part of the service. I also don't want one of their wrench monkeys messing it up, so I haven't opted to use the service.

Specific to your questions, it gets you 2 oil changes and tire rotations per year for the first 2 years and a few other perks. You may be able to use the 4 total changes/rotations at any time during the 2 year membership. You can also extend the membership benefits when it expires if you want to.

More specifics here...https://www.jeep.com/jeep-wave.html

1. Full synthetic from factory
2. The engine oil our department uses is Pennzoil full synthetic, but there is also a MOPAR oil that some dealerships use. (I have heard that the MOPAR oil is Mobil 1)
3. Just keep some kind of documentation. I have seen spreadsheets, binders, and notes. Usually as long as there is proof that it is done, and there is no evidence that the owner never changed the oil frequently, then you will be okay.

Sweet! Thanks for the info guys. I think on this one I'll have the dealer do it. I've been super busy and my wife is taking it for a 2,000 mile road trip in a week or so.

Mobil 1 is not MS6395 spec (Mopar spec) oil so you can be absolutely certain that Mopar oil isn't rebranded Mobil 1.

I use Penzoil Platinum or Ultra-Platinum in my 3.6 and 6.4 for that reason.

Mobil 1 was factory fill for SRT then FCA and Mobil had a falling out, and FCA named a new spec MS6395 that excludes M1

A lot of times if you're changing your own oil it's to cover your ass to prove you used the correct oil/filter. Of course this is only if you are still within warranty. My JKU lease doesn't specifically say anything about having a dealer change my oil so I do it myself. I've only owned cars previously and it's awesome to not have to lift the vehicle to get under it.

I guess if it's free at the dealer to change the oil for the first two years I'll just do that so I don't have to worry about it. I usually change my own oil, but free is free.

Mobil 1 Super Synthetic meets or exceeds the MS 6395.

I’ll keep using Mobil 1 on all my vehicles including my 2 Jeeps

I didn’t keep any receipts and got a new engine without an issue.

I only use synthetic.

Interesting, this must have changed fairly recently.

ETA: That is Mobil Super Synthetic not Mobil 1

https://www.mobil.com/en-US/Passenger-Vehicle-Lube/pds/GL-XX-Mobil-1-5W20

Here is a link to Mobil 1 5-20w it does not show MS6395

https://mobiloil.com/~/media/amer/us/pvl/files/pdfs/mobil-1-oil-product-specs-guide.pdf

None of the Mobil 1 products are MS6395 as of this October 2019 product guide from Mobil
