I wondered if Jeep considered keeping the JT wheelbase and deleting/subtracting the rear cab area to just make an extended cab with a 6.5 bed or something like that. Probably not a solid market for it to make sense for them though so I would doubt that happens. They love to tease the market around the Easter Jeep Safari with all these great concepts that never amount to production. I mean there was the awesome chief concept that came out, but when it went to production it became just another overpriced Sahara Package with a new blue paint job and white trim lol. I was kind of hoping for this to be the actual production "Gladiator" but I am still happy either way!

Point is that in terms of towing and payload, the J6 is no different than the Wrangler on which it's built. The Wrangler that most Jeep truck fans find inadequate in those tasks.

I too would like a 2 dr Jeep truck, but built on the JT platform with a full 8' bed. But it isn't the J6.
J6 2 door on the JT platform, extended cab and 6+ Foot bed! And the 715’s front clip!

Have you picked up a JT yet DaveNH, or still just looking?

That would be another awesome addition to the Jeep Gladiator line up. Jeep could call it the JT6.5XC.

I was hoping they'd pony up and use the M715 front end like the original Gladiator.

In the wake of the reveal, Jeep was constantly stressing that it was a real truck, and not just a Wrangler with a bed. Probably because they realize that's exactly how it looks.

Not yet. I'll probably be giving it a couple years so that the wife and I can pay off the other cars. I see the JT as a "keep it forever" weekend/work/weather purchase for me.

Don’t wait too long to start your “forever”... when you do get it you’ll be kicking yourself for waiting!

This would have been my preference for the JT, more bed length, less cab length, and the front grille to be some what similar to the original Jeep Gladiator style with the ROUND headlights.

I only wanted a 2-seat JT with some interior storage behind the front seats, not going to happen (hope I'm wrong). The current market demands dictate manufacturing of 4-door short bed trucks, the bottomline; there are not enough of us that would ACTUALLY purchase a non 4-door JT for it to be profitable for production. I'm kinda surprised the 2-door Wrangle is still being produced, I don't think it would not be considered for production if Jeep was not already tooled up for its assembly.

Edit: front grille envy

Innovative Auto Creations in AZ has a M715 kit for the JL/JT.

They seem to specialize in Corvettes, but I think they supplied all the SEMA concepts with that front end. They said it's just a new hood and grille. Last I saw you had to contact them for pricing.

for something that small I would rather have a JKU/JLU. I like my stuff on the inside

I would absolutely buy one of these as a fun around town/weekend trail ride. If Jeep never produces it I've already thought about how difficult it would be for a shop to fab up once used Gladiators/JLUs start popping up more often. I've come up with the following:

1. Get a Gladiator and chop it in half, which some people have already done. (To me this seems the most difficult since it involves chopping the frame, moving gas tanks, shortening drive lines, etc.)
2. Buy a totaled Gladiator and graft the bed/back of the cab to a JLU, since the J6 is already on a JLU frame. (Would mostly just involve body work and no major frame cuts or relocating.
3. Wait for a third party like DV8 to come out with a kit like they did for the JKU

You are spot on!!! The 2005 Gladiator concept is what got all this modern version Wrangler Pick-up Truck buzz started.

What is ironic, is Jeep constantly rolls out these very cool concepts, wets everyone's appetite and then they say "There's no market"; "there's no business case"; "buyers want lifestyle".

C'mon Jeep build the J6 or the Crew Chief or the j12 or the Mighty FC - stop the tease!!! We all want something more than just a Gladiator crew cab!

We as the consumer shouldn't have to buy a $55,000 Gladiator and then drop another $30-$40k just to get a shorter cab and longer bed - build some differing cab and bed configurations please!

Before Ford does so with the Bronco.....just say'in....

If Ford builds the Bronco in a shorter cab and longer bed configuration and it sells well, then so will Jeep. If Ford ever actually builds the Bronco, I'm guessing it will be a 4-door.;

Rumor is that Ford is going to do a pickup version, but crew cab and an even smaller bed than the JT (like the 50" bed on the Sport Trac).
