I just got my Sport with max tow, but I’m expecting worse mileage with the 4.10. I knew that going in, so it’s all good, but I do wonder if the 3.xx isn’t a just as legit if you get back better mileage. I’m no expert though.

That’s what we will be doing (minus the dog) in a week to Smith Mountain Lake. I can’t wait!

Don't panic about mileage yet. I thought the same as you when I ordered mine. First tank I was over 21 mpg. better than my Tacoma. I actually got up to 23 when driving across Ohio flat land! Pulling my camper I would get 18. Then I changed the tires to 33" BFG KO2 and lost some. Now if I get 21 mpg I'm doing good, and pulling the camper dropped to 16-17. The 4:10 gears make starting off a breeze. My camper is light, so I'd say depending how you drive is a big factor..

This is real good to know KVJ, thanks. I’d be thrilled with 21. Wouldn’t the 33’s equate to a higher gear ratio and therefore improve the mileage?

Picked up my new NoBo 19.8 today. It was crazy windy and the 150 mile trip home was pretty tense. Ended up having to keep it at 65 or under the whole way. That was kind of rough on the 75 mph interstate in Texas that no one goes under 90 on. Averaged 8 mpg. Will be looking into sway control hitch.

My trailer is <3700# fully laden and is only about 16’ long — and I use a Curt sway control bar. It does make a difference and I figure it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Nice rig, by the way! It looks great!

Going to see how the Gladiator pulls the motorcycle trailer this weekend. Moving my daughter from an apartment to a rent house.

I was really happy with how the Gladiator did pulling the car trailer today. There is a bit of squat with the lift, but it pulled great and the Insight brake controller worked excellent, I would say better than my Ram integrated controller. I have no regrets at this point going from my ram pickup to the Gladiator for my towing needs.

If you use a weight transferring hitch you will eliminate all of the squat.
Makes a huge difference while towing, also eliminates any sway the trailer might get.

I have thought about a weight transfer hitch, but honestly it is not handling like it is squating all that much. As far as sway, I may be imagining things but I think the stability system may have sway control built in. I had no issues what so ever.

I need some tow experts to jump in and help a ninja out! The wife has got the itch for a travel trailer...and had she told me this 5 months ago...I would have bought a max tow...buuuut...I have an Overland. So I know the limit is 6000lbs, I plan on getting a WDH and trailer brake set up. Realistically...what is my safe point when it comes to dry weight? Living in Colorado, I know altitude will play in a little bit. Essentially I am hoping to get the biggest trailer I can for the money. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What I found on my search for the perfect trailer for us, was that you typically add 1000lb to the dry weight to account for gear, water clothes etc.
WTH is absolutely necessary in my opinion. I found a lot of nice light trailers in the 4000lb. Weight area.
Slides typically weigh about 1klb each. So look at trailers with only one or no slides.
Also, determine how many people are going to be sleeping in it regularly.
If you don't need a bunkhouse, there are a lot of open floorplan models that he Ave pull out couches, dinettes that drop to beds and Murphy beds for your master bedroom.
I have a Rubicon, and my trailer weighs just under 5k lb.
I tow it all of the time. The gladiator pulls it awesome.
Good luck!

Definitely looking at bunk houses since it will be my wife, my kid, and 1 kid (for now). Also may the kiddos cousins with us at some point. Sounds like I really shouldn't be looking at anything over 5000lbs then. Didn't know if the WDH and Trailer brakes would be something that would help push the weight limit up a bit.

Look into ultralite models.
I have a grand design. They have an entire line dedicated to light models without losing nice features.
I would never pull more than the vehicle rating. It's not comfortable or safe. Especially with your family with you
