Does aux switch drive relay, or full current run through switch?

With factory JT aux switches option, are these intended to drive a relay, which will in turn handle the full current load? Or are the aux switches themselves rated to handle high current with no relay?

Are they already wired through the fuse panel?

The auxiliary switches send a signal to the computer which then activates the circuit. Almost every automotive switch these days works that way. The switches are programmable through the radio screen to be momentary or full-time, and on all the time (battery) or just when the engine/ignition is on.

Almost 500 amps under maximum load. The Aux switches can not be used to control a winch, only to turn on a heavy duty solenoid mounted next to the battery that then provides power to the winch. You then control the winch with the remote. This keeps high current battery power from being active at the winch when it is not being used. An important safety measure.

Why would you wire a winch through a switch? It's automatically turned on/off by attaching the controller. It should run straight to the battery.

Yes, but if an accident shorts the positive cable to the frame, then the truck goes up in flames. A solenoid operated by a switch controls the power to the winch so that doesn't happen.

Ah, I see. The correct answer here is a fuse. The switch doesn't safely replace having a proper fuse, and once you have the fuse you don't need the switch. This is what I use:

If you set it so the switch is active when the ignition is off, there's nothing to prevent the battery from being drained.

I think the computer turns off headlights, etc. after x minutes if engine is off, etc. I don't know if it does so with the aux. switches.

Missed this the first time around but you're giving Jeep too much credit here. The aux switches are only controlled in their ability to turn on via the orange lead but otherwise, they're all simple ground switches that will ground out when engaged.

The relays under the hood are full-time hot as is the relay coil (+) terminal. The only thing missing is a coil circuit ground which is provided by the aux switches. This is actually a good thing because if you have an issue like the unit failing, you can ground out a relay lead individually and get any circuit back up and running in an emergency.

You can actually build a custom harness for the switch unit with just 7 leads and go full custom under the hood. I have 180A of total available power via my 4 switches.

None of that is accurate. The switches are controlled by the TIPM just like all the other lighting and devices. All under computer control. You can program their behavior on the screen (I have, so I know this to be true).
