I repaired a rock chip in my front windshield today!
Due to being on furlough, I'm doing what I can to save money. So, I used a rain x repair kit ($10 at Wal-mart) with rather astounding results to repair a rock chip I got on Saturday. Our deductible on glass coverage is high to keep our rate low, which is why I went this route.
The pictures below were taken with my window shade in place.
First picture is a professionally repaired ding that cost me $70 a few months ago. While it has still visible defects it hasn't grown any. It was about a quarter sized ding.
Below is the one I did today. It was very similar to the one that was repaired by a shop. It was about quarter sized ding with some "star" defects. After the repair, you can barely see it, it's the fuzzy dot in the middle. MUCH better looking than the pro job.
