All the specs I've seen had rear diff lock standard for the ecodiesel. However, when test driving, I don't remember noticing the switch in the dash. I just happened to take a few pics of the truck at the dealership after the test drive and when zooming in on the interior, it does look like there's no switch on the dash. Do you think the switch changed (maybe in radio display only?), or maybe it's automatic? I also noticed the stop/start didn't work when I test drove it. Maybe it comes disabled, or computer doesn't enable it till after a certain mileage so it doesn't affect testing or something stupid? See pic below for the interior....I'd hate to think Jeep missed parts of my specific build....as a first time Jeep owner, and first time ordering a new vehicle, I will be super pissed if this truck was built wrong!!

Overland doesn’t come with dif lock, nor does Sport. The start/stop button temporarily disables the system, but does not turn off the engine. If certain conditions are not met, it stays running even when the system is on.

Yeah, that's garbage because it seemed like a standard option in any trim with the ecodiesel....then it looks like they actually just put Trac-Lok on the rear instead.....I guess when the spec says "locking rear differential", you really need to look into how it's locked...I took a chance on this build with limited information and I'll never buy a vehicle that doesn't have all the fine-print specs printed and verified

It’s pretty standard stuff, and how they’ve been building them since they came out. Sorry you aren’t happy with your Jeep. The BLD and LSD combined should work quite well for most needs.

I think I'll still be happy with it, and honestly it is probably all I need.....I just feel a little misinformed, and some of the common options they've been putting on Jeeps weren't even in the build system when I placed my order. I wanted all-terrain tires and looked for the option but it wasn't there.....so I thought maybe I'd get all-terrain by default, but nope I got all seasons.....the all-seasons are still a nice $220 tire, but I prefer the look of all-terrains and want a little more peace of mind when going through Illinois farmland or snow....so now instead of paying $200 extra for the option, I'll have to get rid of a perfectly good set of all-season tires and buy $1,200 worth of all-terrains....I may keep the all-seasons in a small storage shed for summer-use, but rather sell them if someone on the forum really likes stock highway tires.

Thats the downside of the overland. Only the Rubi/Mojavi come with AT or MT tires. Locking diffs same thing. Seach your area for Rubicon/Mojavi takeoffs for the wheels and tires. Might be cheaper that getting new tires for winter.

I am confused.

You ordered a custom build and thought you knew what you were getting but didn't verify it, or ask questions, on a part that sounds like it was fairly important to you and now you're bummed at Jeep?

You can add an air locker after market for prob $1500 with labor. That's prob in line with what the e-locker would have been as an option, and personally I prefer the air lock.

One of the reasons we went with the Overland is lack of lockers. Assumed we would be changing the gears so while it is open for that we can add the air locker.

When I built the Jeep, I went through every option and compared overland with rubicon. In overland it said the ecodiesel came standard "with locking rear differential". To me, I thought it meant actual locks, not Trac-Lok...I'm new to Jeeps, didnt even know there was something called trac-lok, so obviously I didn't ask them how the rear diff locks. I even went as far as saying I wish I had front lockers as an option so I wouldn't have to install later and change out the switches on the dash.....Its not like the salesmen know every detail about these vehicles too...Jeep didn't even have the vehicle posted on their site yet...

So yes, Jeep shouldve been more specific about the features on their models, not putting an asterisk next to it. I took the gamble buying the ecodiesel before all info was released (like towing info), so its partially my fault....but Jeep should not open up orders until they have all option info for that model year. All of you "experts" that have followed Jeep for years and know every package and part serial number arent going to make me feel bad about not getting information upfront. I tried my damnest to get all info I could, and it was still somewhat a shot in the dark...so I'll adapt and overcome.

Yeah, I understand better now

The current question: how good is traclok? I got overland model because I probably won't be doing any rock crawling....maybe a little here or there if I'm out with a group...but I will primarily be on dirt and gravel trails with some farm and snow on/off road....the locking axles on rubicon was something I wanted "in case", but not something I felt I absolutely needed.....is the traclok going to be noticeable, or is it pretty much the same as any other 4WD system?

Your new Jeep will be AWESOME! Don’t worry about not having locking differentials for your stated use.

Thanks! I'm not losing any sleep over it. Just curious as to any other things that may not be exactly what I thought they would and how much or what I could do if I want to fix/upgrade it....

Renegade, I'm near Nashville (you probably already know that)....maybe you can show me some of the TN trails and campsites this fall?

Honestly with all the rear locking differentials failing right now, you might have dodged a serious bullet. Somebody just reported their 2021 Mojavi got the same error the 2020s got.

The tracloc is a pretty impressive LSD. I've walked the same pathways as rubicons with locked rear. It's a solid offering, especially if you ever put a boat in on a slippery ramp. We put our large center console in the marsh and a steep landing and it had no issues with wheel slippage.
