im cautiously optimistic after last night.
my insurance company offers a discount that pays for the ACC in about 5 years. You should bring it up with your agent
That was my thought exactly as some insurance companies discount when the vehicle is equipped with certain safety features and tracking. Good call...

My agent says it's all accounted for when they plug the VIN in. No special rider or anything. The discount is already applied. In short, buy a safe vehicle with those options, your insurance is automatically cheaper - no "discount" needed - it's priced in already.

It's exactly like their homeowners insurance - if you live so many feet from a hydrant, have certain roofing, etc. - the price is reflective of the safer features.

I have both on my Overland. I didn't have any interest in the adaptive cruise package, but the package with the blind spot monitoring was a must for me. I'm glad I got the adaptive cruise package too, I use that feature all the time on the highway. It was great on the highways on my move from CO to NC towing a uhaul trailer, I just found a truck going a speed I wanted and drafted behind at a nice safe distance. My only complaint is the lag when changing lanes and getting back up to the set speed. And when some a-hole cuts me off and the system slows down to get me to the distance I have set, but that's not a fault of the system. As for the brake warning/auto braking, my only complaint is it does go off when I'm going around someone that has turned onto another road, not sure if it's just anecdotal or not, but it only seems to go off when someone is turning left in front of me.

You really need to try the ACC, it’s so easy.
5033D8E7-C5B3-42B3-887A-2451080FB824.jpeg

-press button 1 to turn on adaptive cruise (pressing X just turns on regular cruise)
-press set or number 2..
-then pressing A or B increases or decreases the distance to car in front.

It actually works very well, I was impressed..
Thanks for posting that.

I rarely do much highway driving, but every time I find myself on the highway, I think to use the ACC, but realize I never learned how.

That annotated photo did the trick—I’ll try it next time.

As for the safety group stuff, I have had the FCW alarm go off a few times, but it has always made sense. Generally when I am traveling behind a vehicle taking a turn and I am planning to pass, but am probably going too fast and too close for the system’s comfort. I have yet to have a situation where brakes would be applied for me.

The backup sensors are excellent. I firmly believe the blind spot detection is one of the better auto industry additions in the last 15-years. I just wish there was an AUDIO ONLY option for the blind spot detection when the doors are off—for some reason, the system is completely disabled without the doors on (obviously the mirror alerts couldn’t work, but certainly audio alerts could work).

Only strike against the backup system would be that it identifies passing traffic FAR behind you and makes an alert noise—if I am backing out of a parking spot in the local convenience store’s lot, the traffic passing by in the street will trigger an audio alert. I suppose I’d rather have unnecessary alerts backing up than miss an alert.

Any Canadian's find these options unavailable on the Diesel Rubicon? I tried to build my 2021 Gladiator Rubi with the diesel, but the Advanced Safety Package is NOT listed as an option...

Another vote in favor of both here. Brake warning has only alerted but never brakes for me yet and only in places it made sense.

Adaptive cruise is nice, but I actually wish it was harder to just use regular cruise. More than once I've thought I was in adaptive and slowly crept up on the car in front of me... Just a good reminder that you should always be paying attention even with these systems on!

Without a doubt rear cross traffic is my most used. I live in the city and regularly have to back out of driveways with parked cars on either side. Without it, you'd just have to slowly back out and hope no one is speeding down the road.

Yeah I just found that out in the last day or two , but it has given me time to nit-pick and flip flop on colors a bit. I chose Nov 2nd to put in my order, but thinking more about it... I should wait until Nov 4th for obvious reasons. Be nice to time it where it will be ready either before or after our trip were taking during Christmas. Meh, luck is never in my favor...

Thanks for all the responses, I think I'll go ahead and chose the safety group features as it will always pay for itself avoiding just one incident.
It's not obvious to me why the election would matter for your order. Can you elaborate on that? I'm just curious. Are you trying to choose between Hydro Blue and Fire Cracker Red? LOL!

For those of you that have these features, are you happy with it? Do you use the features often or find yourself turning them off? I am about to order Nov 2nd after I hit the 30 days for the FCA program and find myself on the fence. I just sold my 2018 Tundra that had the Safety Sense which is similar to what's offered in these packages and had days of glitches where the alert would go off telling me to brake when the road was clear or other times I would see the light come on the dash where it has decided to turn itself off rendering it useless should I get into trouble. I hardly ever use cruise as it's in my head I use way more fuel bouncing RPMs to keep speed but there have been times. I did like the auto on/off hi beams when approaching traffic was coming, but on the JL forum it seems they have trouble in parking garages. Just wanted to get an idea as these are the last of the features before my mind is made.
I love the adaptive cruise, and I've got no complaints about the safety. It does a good job of warning and reacting.

Election doesn't matter to my order, just my personal finances. BTW, I ended up ordering at the end of October... Firecracker Red :like:

Thanks for all the responses. I did end up going with the Safety Package but skipped the ACC since our freeways are parking lots and I can't remember the last time I used cruise control.

I really love having the feature. I have had my Gladiator three weeks and haven't had a single problem.

That's funny no matter what your personal idealism is.

ACC is for crowded roads, not open highways. In fact, our interstates here (I80 and I35) are PACKED with 3/4 truck traffic many times - that's why we love ACC. It works when traffic comes to a stop or crawl because an accident 200 feet away on the shoulder of the south bound lanes has traffic in the north bound lanes crawling because of the curiosity of the Iowa rubber-neckers who love to see things burn. Seriously, we have more accidents in the lanes opposite an accident because Iowan's love to see things crash and burn or blow up.
Case-in-point - the great Iowa State Fair train wreck drew a crowd when they aimed two locomotives at each other and let them crash. Iowan's seem to love carnage.
So because of the crowds and stupid rural drivers out of place on crowded highways, we need ACC.
You don't need it in the plains of KS or NE.

Agree completely. I have a Subaru Ascent with automatic cruise control and it's awesome in Houston traffic, I am most happy with it in start/stop traffic but it's good all the time. Only problem in some traffic is that at times it 'lets in' too many people in front of me - that's the aggressive Houstonian driver in me - but in honestly probably safer that I just let it do it's thing. :like:

I find it a lot more relaxing to set the speed and just let it figure out the throttle. I find myself not so concerned about what speed I'm going (arg this car in front of me is only going 63 in a 60?? get out of my way! :punch:)

I haven't tried the Jeep system but I ordered it on my new 2021 Sport S Diesel, a non-negotiable for me. Hoping it works well, sounds like there is a lot of positive feedback.

When I was first looking at the market, I found it frustrating that so few Gladiators had it, I would have thought for the truck market that it would be more sought-after. Disappointing that FCA makes such an important safety feature so expensive. They say the automatic breaking & collision alert is the best safety feature since seatbelts ABS(based on real world accident data). Apparently blind spot monitoring less so.

Does anyone want to guess if it would do anything for seeing and stopping for deer? We have the nations highest deer collision rate in my area and I would take any stopping ability I could get.
